Two were arrested for the killing two Chinese students...It's time for the parents to sue the school and the city for misleading information about safety and security in the area where the school is located. They should have informed the parents that it is a violent crime infested area and their children studied there at their own risk so they can take precaution!!!

On the other hand doesn't this justify the use of firearms for self-defense? What is the current policy on guns for immigrants?

The more firearms, the more killing. Should somebody open a thread dedicated to firearm violence?

What we should be looking at is the proportion of gun use which is actually for self defense, vs other nefarious uses. Then compared the casualties that were prevented through self defense vs extra casualties that were inflicted through these other uses.

I think I know already which number is higher for both cases.

USC should think about providing more graduate student housing, not just the undergraduate on campus. If it's off campus, provide some student shuttle busing to and from campus. USC has money they just don't want to spend it.

I'm pleased that the culprits that murdered the students in LA are in police custody.

Ling Yifan, a 29-year-old cartoonist, had a plan to help her ailing grandfather travel the world.

Earlier this month Ling posted a portrait of her grandfather, who is dying of cancer in Beijing, on Sina Weibo, a popular microblogging site.

"My grandpa is sick and only has a few days left. There are many places he has never been, and there is not enough time left for him to travel," she wrote. "I hope you can help him see the world by taking a picture with this portrait."

Her post was forwarded more than 80,000 times within just a few days, with tens of thousands of microbloggers printing out the portrait and taking photos with it in a variety of locations, from the Thames River and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau to a zoo in Seychelles.

Lin said that she is grateful that her post has helped her grandfather realize his dream, as well as helped her to share her love for her family with so many people.

A foreign woman teases a Chinese boy at Tiananmen square in Beijing, China, Tuesday, May 22, 2012. First, videos of rude foreigners went viral in Chinese cyberspace. Then, a Beijing police crackdown on visitors without valid visas drew fervent applause. And finally, a state TV host urged his countrymen to toss out the "foreign trash."The latest anti-foreigner stirring in China has put the spotlight on outsiders at a time when its leaders would welcome any distraction from the slowing economy, a high-level political scandal and a blind activist's daring flight into U.S. custody.

Gaming executives and industry players gathering for a convention in Macau on Tuesday may have to finally confront what they have been predicting for the past two years -- a sharp slowing of growth in the world's hottest gambling market.

In this picture taken on May 21, 2012 Chinese port workers gather to pose as China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC)'s first independent deep-water oil drilling rig, was sent off from the port of Qingdao, east China's Shandong province. China's first home-grown deep-water drilling rig will be located in the South China Sea, some 300 kilometres (200 miles) southeast of Hong Kong, as the country's dependent on oil imports to fuel its surging economy, claims full sovereignty on the sea, which has huge oil and gas reserves, often leading to diplomatic rows with its neighbours.
