Zhou Libo: Satires on Chinese Social Issues

Anyone else watch this? It's really funny and Zhou is not afraid to tackle controversial issues such as double standards in law enforcement and government officials wasting money on vanity projects.

Watching his show, I get reminded of how dysfunctional the Chinese society still is! :)

He is afraid, a lot of things he mentioned were just a touch on the surface, he didn't dare to elaborate or to criticize. That is what's frustrating about the critical media in China. They want to criticize but are afraid to be "harmonized".

Sorry, but that makes no sense. He's doing satire, not demagogy. Satire is funny because of its unspoken context, and the fact that your audience understands this unspoken context. He's here to make people laugh, not to make political speeches.

I would like to point out is that: when the public media isn't really doing the RIGHT things but to earn money from mass debates (like trolls in a forum), whatever suppose-be-good critics to the society, especially critics to China, won't really gose as planned.

Zhou's stuff is ok, but he (and many others) is also smart enough to know that all walks of schemers are queuing up to USE people like him, they will be used as a means to a completely different end.

I figure many members here visiting Chinese forums frequently, and I guess you all knows critics remain critic only when schemers (aka very smart trollers) have not step into the debate yet. So it is not a problem there is not enough critics to the society, but how critics (almost all) being USED.

So back to topic, people like Zhou make a self-defence machenism first, then try to make a point.

The reason why this guy won't create a peasant and worker's uprising is fashion. Just look in what kind of clothes old chairman Mao was portrayed. As long as he keeps his style it's all about having fun (like the
