Why the heck does the bridge stick out on both sides of the superstructure? It breaks the stealth shaping for only a meter at most of extra bridge space.

Because if it didn't it is reported that the ship will go 100% invisible!!

Its called bridgewings, eq getting the ship commander a good view across the ship to its stern and both sides... quite cruisal feature expecially when the ship's bridge is on same level as the uppermost deck. If the bridge would be one deck higher, such features wouldn't be needed to allow good all out visibility, but I doupt it actually harms the "stealth" features that considerably, lookin from the ship carrying its main ordanance in un-covered positions for example.

I have no experience with ships but I wonder if you can provide ship captains and deck officers with electronic means of looking out, tv camera's for ordinary light, infra red, microwave, whatever. You save steel, but have to invest more in reliability for your electricity supply, redundancy in sensors &c. I expect it to be more expensive, but would it be safer in fog for example?

Re: China Got A New Ship For Pakistan

Considering that the ship is small and propably fast, and despite all the goodities of modern metalurgy and shipbuilding practices, its still going to get into middle of heavy stress and strain when in combat situation, and its most likely to take some damage that can in worst cases render the ship into powerless hulk in middle of bad weather and bad enemy activity. nevertheless its still a vessel that needs to be commanded and the captain must either put up the best figth he can or do his best to take the vessel and its crew safely to port... when the generic navigation qualities of the vessel are well designed and functioning, it can prove out to be cruisal for the surviability, which for smaller navies like Pakistanese must be important issue, since hardly any naval unit cannot be seen as "expendable".

And it doesen't apply only in the mentioned "worst case" scenario, but having good robust vessel that has good seakeeping, and good commanding facilities for human-eyes can be important factor in modern combat. Wars aren't won by those whose equipment does the leathleist damage, but the ones who's shit doesen't break down in middle of the important secconds ;) The technoawe with many of us internet-warriors tends to put too much embashis of the high end capacities of some weapon system, often with expence of the more cruisal capacities, like durability, realiability and practicality that at least IMO are the fundamentals for any succesfull weapon platform, be it ship, aeroplane, tank or rifle.

Re: China Got A New Ship For Pakistan

Thats a nice little boat!

she is indeed, if PN was to buy one like this from a Western source it would have been 2-3 times the price and we would never get ToT with it, now Pakistan has access to equipment at practical prices under ToT which is the important part, because in time of war when our ships are damaged and need repairs our own shipyards can fix them quickly and get them back into the action

if we buy from outside and do not have the transfer of technology they are useless, we cant wait for the supplier to come and repair our ships and equipment, especially if they put us under sanctions, no one will do us such a favour (apart from China) so its important that Karachi shipyard is equipped for damage repair or even replace the ship, after the war is over

the last F22P was built at Karachi also as was the last Agosta 90B submarine from France

Azmat's armament includes a twin 25 mm gun mounting and eight C-802A surface-to-surface missiles and and two 12.7 mm machine guns, it can also have a airdefence in the form of Anza Manpads

the ship will stop over in Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Sri Lanka and Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Masood Khan and the presidents of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation were also present on this occasion

the Pakistani sailors from this ship have said that they are very impressed with its state-of-the-art weaponry, sophisticated computers and sensors, its bridge and modern layout is something new to PN sailors

this is also the first stealth ship to enter PN service hopefully not the last  PN is also in talks with China for the sale of 6 next generation submarines

Type 022 is a better choice for Pakistan, proven, cheaper, faster, stealthier and have similar power pack
