Actually Thats a 60 round casket mag the Russians Cooked up. Among the other features Milstd 1913 style rail interface a telescopic skeletal folding stock. Although it retains the traditional AK operating controls (YUCK) I have seen two versions one with AK74 style gas system profile the other more interesting model has the profile of the AK107/AK108 or at least what looks too be The later may then use the Balanced Automatics Recoil System.

Re: Type 95 assault rifle

The caption for the second round states that as well as 'jumping up' upon impact, the shell also contains 358 tungsten alloy balls. The extra kill radius and number of fragments comes from the tungsten balls and the airburst, whereas all the others would have been impact detonation radii. Not exactly a like-for-like comparison.

As Terran Empire has pointed out, the smaller shell would result in less explosive force, the tungsten balls and 'jumping' mechanism would take up yet more room inside the shell to further reduce the explosives load.

The VOG-25's lethality radius is actually due to the fact that it is a bouncing grenade. The M406 however, is not a bouncing grenade, and instead detonates on impact.

But yes, I wouldn't know how the Chinese would fit so much projectiles within a relatively small frame, whilst providing enough explosives for a boosting charge to disperse the frag. The M406 for example, has a 43.2 g TNT equivalent bursting charge, and the VOG-25 has a 73.7 g TNT equivalent bursting charge (the VOG-25 is 22 grams heavier than the M406 too).

In fact, after doing some "preliminary" research, a larger 35 mm grenade that the PLA uses for the QLZ87, the Type 87, weighs 250 g, yet only has a kill radius of about 11 m. This could mean either the information on the new PLA grenade is dubious, or it's really something new.

That's interesting...where's the handle?

I presume you mean charging handle? Well, it will be on the right hand side of the rifle.

Interesting development, but hardly anything ground breaking, just a slightly different shell on the same rifle.

But I do wonder who this is aimed at. Has the PLA finally relented and is adopting the P-rail?

No, if you look closely, you'd realize that's a PS job - main body and barrel are QBZ-95-1, the top part is FN SCAR.

Looks real enough to me.

The lighting and shadows are all consistent.

The SCAR actually has a different vent layout (3 longer, covered holes compared to the 6 shorter, exposed holes here), in addition to having a charging handle which is absent here.

Also look at the shadows on the walls. That sort of stuff is extremely hard to PS, and far harder to make look convincing. Notice that the bottom of the rifle has P-rail for accessories. If they were going to put rails on at all, it seems logical that they put them on top as well, which is far more common and useful.

The top looks like a SCAR because they just copied the SCAR's iron sights design. Besides that, they just changed a few pieces of the casing. It's hardly cutting edge stuff. Hell, I can modified a Type 95 to look like that if given the right tools.

The trigger guard is of the new Type95G that we have seen, and it is definitely not a Type97 that someone bought and tweaked themselves.

Looks real enough to me, so the only question remaining for me is - is this a PAP/SWAT mod or a PLA mod?
