Quite a shockingly large casualty figure for a single strike.

I wonder what the American response would have been had the roles been reverse and a Pakistani air strike killed 25 Americans during a cross boarder raid.

Not nearly as restrained would be my bet...

The previous time, when 2 Pakistani soldiers were killed, the closure of NATO transport route amounted to several days. I wonder how long it will take this time to reopen the transport route and what price the US will have to pay.

Nato and allies for years have launched a media war against Pakistan, so I doubt there will be any sympathy in their press and their nations. They probably say Pak soldiers are to blame for getting killed because some insurgents mght have launched a mortar attack close to their base. Guilt by proximity.

Guys I had a feeling this is more than an accidental friendly fire. I think NATO and Pakistan ISI are having a war within a war campaign. The two sides are doing this out political standings and agendas, although they maybe allies and are hunting terrorists.

Last time the border was closed to NATO transports for ten days, this time it might be twice as long. Would US army or NATO really take such a risk? Or did they think they would again kill two soldiers and that wouldn't matter? To my mind that would be madness. I don't believe it.

EVEN IF (and that's a big IF) this were true, it does not absolve NATO of its responsibility. Did they not have intelligence that there were Pakistan forces stationed in the area? Operating in an area where nominally allied forces are based, why would you call in air strikes without even ascertaining who your target is?

This just shows a callous disregard for the lives of Pakistani servicemen.

Afghans called in air support. However we prob wont know full facts only the ones presented to media.

BTW I dont think US pilots will be distraught at hearing of killing Pakistanis.

Afghanistan is a large country. There is no need for the US to occupy it up to the Pakistani or any other border. If they were to stay a hundred miles from the border they would need fewer troops and avoid killing people inside Pakistan.
Btw I wonder if, all considered, killing Osama bin Laden was a mistake.
