You see a vapor trail and, when flying at high angle of attack, vortices only if the air is not too dry. There are thin clouds at greater altitude, but at the altitude the plane was flying the air might have been pretty dry.

Yeah, I always thought it would have been a bit of an 'insult' to call SAC's stealth J16 as some have suggested. LOL

Could it be something that is used to enhance its radio signature? (for tracking from ground.)

I wonder, when the J-20 is test flying, whether the airbases around chengdu is on alert standby.

They probably didn't give the plane enough fuel to fly outside the country.

It would probably easier to give it a self-destruct mechanism. Beside I don't think anyone in this situation fills up their tank unless they need it.

Doesn't look like it. This is what the Luneburg lens used on the F22 looks like.





As for the rest, well has there ever been a case in recorded history where a prototype has defected? Not just anyone can become a test pilot you know, and when was the last time a Chinese pilot defected?

There is honestly more chance an American pilot would fly his F22 to China in exchange for fat stacks since these are operational pilots, and there are far more of them. But that's not going to happen, so talk of J20 going walkies is equally absurd.
