I was surprised to see that statue's photo here since I just read about it a day or two ago. Did not know the sculptor was Chinese.

Needless to say there were some controversies about this "outsourcing".

Looks like the US leadership finally figured out how to befriend the Chinese public. First Locke's airport photos and now Biden eating noodles at a family restaurant - behaving humbly wins people's hearts in China.

Chinese police check the accident scene after a fire engulfed a four-story building of the Shengfeng Ceramics Factory in Foshan, in southern China's Guangdong province on August 23, 2011. At least 15 people were killed when the blaze ripped through the dormitory building on early August 23, the local fire department said.

GUANGZHOU, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- A fire at a ceramics factory killed 15 people and seriously injured one Tuesday morning in the south China's Guangdong Province, local authorities said.

The fire broke out at 6:18 a.m., engulfing a building of the Shengfeng Ceramics Company in Sanshui District in the city of Foshan, said Sun Jiangmin, an official with the provincial fire department.

Among the casualties, 13 were killed in the fire and another two died after jumping from the four-story building, said Sun.

The building has both dormitories and offices inside, he said.

According to Sun, the fire started on the second floor and quickly spread to other floors but it is so far unclear how it started.

Sun blamed the large number of casualties on the building's poor fire alarm system and flammable interior decorations materials.

Over 100 firefighters were mobilized to extinguish the blaze which was put out about two hours later.

The factory's legal representative is now in police custody, said Sun.

Visitors look at railway products designed by China Railway Construction Electrification Bureau Group (CRCEBG) on display at the China International Rail Transit Exhibition in Shanghai on August 23, 2011. China's high-speed rail network -- the world's biggest -- is a key political priority but last month's train crash, combined with teething problems on the Beijing-Shanghai link, has been a major embarrassment for the government.

Chinese rail authorities said they would stop more high-speed rail services, just as a magazine published claims that a big safety flaw had been discovered on a bullet train made by a state-owned firm. On August 22, the respected Caixin Century Magazine reported that workers found a 7.1-millimetre-long (0.28-inch-long), 2.4-millimetre-tall crack last month on the axle of a train made by China CNR Corp -- a claim the firm promptly denied.
