COIN aircraft for the PLAAF?

My history is rusty but I believe IL-2s and derivatives were used in Tibet during the insurgency there.

Correct. That's when you-konw-who openly and freely drop all kinds of insurgency supplys within the said territory, and local warlords (I mean it) have some relatively handsome supports including their own private army; while PLA don't even have enough dockeys and other suitable livestocks for all kinds of needs to start with.

Respectable insurgencies are hard to come by these days, in China. - well, it's good to brand those green shirts as one though, when sh*t hit the fan, over Taiwan. (we nail only the branded insurgents, if you check the history again "惩办首恶")

China is well placed to produce a lot of low-cost, high-quality COIN strike aircraft with precision weapons capability (like the Super Tucano). A lot of money could be made overseas, because I think there's a large demand for them.

Thank you. That’s one of my points. As many members have pointed out, China has no need for COIN aircraft. However, the potential export market for 3rd world countries for low intensity combat is high. There is money to be made here and it can be used to fund other projects and provide a larger industrial base. It would be a low risk investment with potential high returns.

Why are you so obsessed with the outlook of terrorists attacks in China?

COIN aircraft are useful against terrorists?

And open armed rebellion/insurgency is far less likely in China that in the US for example.

Firearms and explosives are highly controlled in China. There are no tools for armed insurgency, not to mention that there is no appeal whatsoever for the vast majority of people, even in 'troubled' regions like Tibet and Xinjiang.

Maybe you would care to actually learn what the place is called before prophecising about the inevitability of armed insurgency happening there.

Like my old history teacher in China used to say, 'you can go charge to a hilltop and wave a massive banner calling for revolution, but unless there is popular support for revolution, you will just end up being a laughing stock'.

No matter how people in the western media may expect/hope/fantasize about the coming collapse of China when all the 'repressed' masses will rise up and overthrow the 'evil commies' in Beijing, it is not going to happen because the people of China are far less oppressed than what people in the west imagine, and the Chinese government is far more popular than what those people can stand to accept.

you see some country has tie control over explosive and fire arm, but that does not prevent them enter countries.
example was sri langka vivil war, algerian civil war...,if they fanatically and determine to carry out the attack, they will.
