Now, Apache must be a joke. WHERE ARE THEY? The deal must have went through more than 3 years ago. THREE YEARS AGO. And guess what? No Apache in Taiwan as of now. LOL! Either Taiwanese government IMAGINED they purchased Apache, and gave the money away, or the deal never went through.
Seriously its some LOL stuff.

The Stingers for the Apaches were already contracted for shortly after the Apache sale notification itself. The actual airframes were delayed till the US Army itself started low rate initial Block 3 Apache procurement which it has now done last fall and Taiwan production will begin with full rate production for US Army with first deliveries in 2014.

My apology. I guess I am wrong about Apache. But I am still largely right about everything else!

You're wrong about the Patriot 3. You haven't told me what list of Taiwanese secrets China has. You haven't disputed the fact that the P-3C Orion is a highly effective plane or told me why it's a bad piece of equipment.

So I don't know what you're right on.

Pres. Ma says he wants to modernize the Army and will get the fighter aircrafts needed (blablabla...), but after years of promises he s still beating about the bush with US administration, hands tied with Chinese holding 900 billions of US debt...
And he does know these facts! Why not re-open discussions with some europeans?

The Typhoon and Gripen are never going to be exported to TW. Rafale is unlikely but the better bet of the three given previous history of sales to TW, lack of export sales (same reason the French sold M2000-5 to TW 20 years ago and to fund the development of the -5 for the AA). France also owes TW potentially half a billion in compensation for the Lafayette fiasco. A Rafale sale, or even M2000 upgrade or SSK design could wipe that liability out overnight.

Hence, I still wonder why MA did not try to find out any other way, with europeans for instance. :p
Besides, more EU officials are pushing stronger ties (VISA agreements, commercial/free trade agreements, aso..) with Taiwan, given the fact that PRC is not the great diplomatic and economic partner they expected to have.

Otherwise I will soon think that MA is simply preparing for a soft reunification with mainland. Very bad news then.

Jeez I wonder for how long the f-16s can be delayed for... How many years has it been since Taiwan wanted the f-16cds first?
