before they build the Giant Robots they have too get the troops all wired up.
I find the lack of ballistic protection in the helmet and Almost interceptor cut of the armor questionable but a re do of the type89 or replacement is some thing of a good thing.

Everyone wants to get on the Future Warrior gravy train.

No smart grenade launcher though (at least not yet).

Japan is preparing to attack China's chunxiao gas field or begin unilateral drilling in disputed waters!

Japan has lodged a formal protest after a Chinese helicopter flew close to its destroyer in the East China Sea.

The Japanese ship was on patrol on Monday near a disputed gas field that both countries want to exploit.
China's should prepare an ambush to sink Japanese vessels -- Cheonan style. Meanwhile, China can team up with Russia to conduct amphibious warfare exercises in the Sea of Japan simulating a landing on Honshu, the main island of Japan. The plan was originally proposed by Russia in response to Japan's declaration that it can take Southern Kurils in 4 days.

This is a critical moment for China. This could be China's "Battle of Trafalgar" establishing it as a premier naval power.

Only the amphibious warfare exercises are possible. But otherwise delay is in China's interest. Look at this video from The Daily Telegraph:

Niall Ferguson is a Brit and professor of history at Harvard.
The Japanese can improve their security in the medium term only by signing an agreement with China, because the US will not be able to maintain its huge military apparatus.

The Japanese have just declared Chunxiao gas field "disputed territory." In fact, Chunxiao gas field is just outside of Japanese claims. So there is not even an iota of legitimacy to this Japanese claim. It appears that Japan is preparing to attack Chunxiao gas field.

To deal with the this new development from Japan, China should make it clear that "all options are on the table" in response. China needs North Korea's help to really rein in Japan.

The Niall Ferguson interview is fascinating and amusing. If the US dollar collapses in the not too distant future, China needs to have at least 7 aircraft carrier battle groups to prowl the ocean as the new oceanic superpower. It is the natural position of the country with the most global trade to do this task.

Much better to read what the Charter of the UN says about regional organisations. An Indian Ocean organisation might consist of all the major countries around that ocean, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Pakistan. These countries can, perhaps with the help of China, ensure the freedom of the seas in the region, without interference from the US. China might not need to contribute an aircraft carrier.

The world is really much more stable if countries learn to cooperate on the basis of interest rather than from respect for a global super power that spends as much on war and war preparations as all other countries together.

It appears that Japan is preparing to attack Chunxiao gas field.

Whatever gave you that idea?

Oh right, you said that PRC was going to attack Japan during the Diaoyutai/Senkaku trawler incident a few months back. And that PLAN's carrier will go out to sea before Chinese New year.

Also, why should Japan attack the Chunxiao gas field? Because you think so? If so, on what basis?

It's a Politically unlikely event for Japan too open Hostilities against anyone.
Will they defend themselves if attack? Yes.
Could they attack?
They have the capabilities too attack however the political repercussions would likely include a the termination of a number of top political futures. Article 9 of the State of Japan's Constitution "The Japanese people forever renounce war as a sovereign right of the nation and the threat or use of force as means of settling international disputes".
I doubt any member of The Japanese ruling party is looking too hand the opposition a golden key in the form of a major Violation of the Article 9. Sure they may keep the SDF but right now I don't see any bullets fired fore more then training. on top of which with the earthquake and tsunami right the SDF is going too be too busy picking up the pieces too be planing a raid on anything.

You do know there's an undercurrent to overturn that constitution, right? And with China's rising is unavoidable, it gets stronger.

But it'd all come down to the US, though. So long as the US maintain its view on Japan's role in its scheme of all things, that'd be hard to make it a reality.

If Japan is afraid not to have security treaty, it should have one with China. Then they wouldn't have foreign forces in their country, especially important to Okinawa, and not have to pay for those forces.
