Its deference and acceptance of elite fails sons and daughters and overall nepotism has made America a far worse place. Elites have stopped caring about the common good and focused upon uncompetitive and inequity practices for themselves (including their progeny) via privatization and downgrading public institutions.
Just as technology and industry is important to a nation, so is culture and traditions. As such, it is important to reflect and see what others have practiced and weigh their pros and cons.
For example, there is a reason why Eunuches were commonplace in Asia but not so much in Europe. I think it might have to do with family structures like greater acceptance for polyamorous relationships amongst elites. The tendency to have multiple heirs from many concubines also has the tendency to create more in court intrigue and civil wars.
As most of the world is separate from West, it’s fascinating to see how what cultural practices have allowed them to succeed and what has not. Moreover, a lot of cultural and traditions we take for granted were forced upon by the West under the guise of modernity were not commonplace previously. For example the ending of the Asian clan structure for the American styled nuclear family which has radically change dating/marriage practices and potentially one of the greatest underlying causing for the world’s demographic crisis.
