Re: Do you have your own firearms or like any particular small arm??!

You're statistically most likely to be killed by a gun you own.

Provide a legit source for your claim plesae? The firearm club im in have around 150 members at anytime and we havent had firearm accidents for over 23 years. And there is a reason why its required to have a safe in your house to put away your guns....

I'm not sure about what Finn stated but in the US if you carry a gun you are more likely to be killed by the gun than those persons that are unarmed.

Packing heat may backfire. People who carry guns are far likelier to get shot – and killed – than those who are unarmed, a study of shooting victims in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has found.

It would be impractical – not to say unethical – to randomly assign volunteers to carry a gun or not and see what happens. So Charles Branas's team at the University of Pennsylvania analysed 677 shootings over two-and-a-half years to discover whether victims were carrying at the time, and compared them to other Philly residents of similar age, sex and ethnicity. The team also accounted for other potentially confounding differences, such as the socioeconomic status of their neighbourhood.

Despite the US having the highest rate of firearms-related homicide in the industrialised world, the relationship between gun culture and violence is poorly understood. A recent study found that treating violence like an infectious disease led to a dramatic fall in shootings and killings.

Overall, Branas's study found that people who carried guns were 4.5 times as likely to be shot and 4.2 times as likely to get killed compared with unarmed citizens. When the team looked at shootings in which victims had a chance to defend themselves, their odds of getting shot were even higher.

While it may be that the type of people who carry firearms are simply more likely to get shot, it may be that guns give a sense of empowerment that causes carriers to overreact in tense situations, or encourages them to visit neighbourhoods they probably shouldn't, Branas speculates. Supporters of the Second Amendment shouldn't worry that the right to bear arms is under threat, however. "We don't have an answer as to whether guns are protective or perilous," Branas says. "This study is a beginning."

Daniel Webster, co-director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Policy and Research in Baltimore, Maryland, thinks it is near-sighted to consider only the safety of gun owners and not their communities. "It affects others a heck of a lot more," he says.

that makes a lot more sense... I think Finn stated it wrong, I dont see how so many ppl can be killed by their own gun... If you actually shoot at a range or a firearm club, the rules are very strict and people are really careful about safety procedures.

Well Popeye's link certainly gets at what I was talking about, and I can't remember where I read my original claim, the most common scenario that the "killed by your own gun" phenomenon happens is, I'm pretty sure, in domestic disputes where someone gets mad and goes for the family gun. And that's a hell of a lot more common than the NRA-nut fantasy of a stranger invading your home, where a gun would actually be an asset rather than a danger.

In any case, Popeye's link proves what I was getting at far better than my rambing. Having a gun statistically increases your chances of getting killed by a gun. That's not to say I don't support gun rights though. I think that people who, like the people at your firearm club, follow the rules and are sensible about gun ownership and aren't involved in crime, shouldn't have any problems with unintended gun violence. And plus it says right there in the Constitution that you have a right to own a gun so that about settles it for me.

Ya I totally Agree with you, I personally think it depend on the situation and the people. In texas, I hear stories about two ppl arguing in a bar and shoot each other many times before. But here in Wisconsin, gun related crime rarely happen compare to most of the souther states. If you were having a very bad day and met some one you just hate from the start, you are more likely to pull some stunt like that and get both of you killed than normal.. But ya people post your favorite firearms!!!

I love firing the Colt .45acp model 1911 and just about any Glock. Not a fan of the Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol NYPD uses it's recoil is not as smooth as the 1911 or the Glock 45cal.

If I had the money and willing to do all the paper work I'd love to get me a M1 carbine classic WWII wood stock and the updated fiber glass stock. Unfortunately the US has prohibited the importation of certain Chinese fire arms on my wish list like the Type-81 and the QBZ-03. But one can dream.

The US military used the .45 semi-auto 1911 for many years. When I was stationed in the Philippines I fired many, many rounds of .45 cal at the firing range where as I was the instructor for Cubi PT.:D. One thing I really like about the .45 was is ease of stripping to clean. Plus the parts were interchangeable. However when firing the military .45 each one required a different sight adjustment. Some would shoot low and to the left..some high and to the right..You see no two were alike..

The tried and true Colt .45 semi-auto 1911..so very sweet:D

Re: Chinese Daily Photos, Videos & News of 2013!!!

I just gotta admire your guts even with gloves. The teeth must be very sharp and you never know of any disease they could be carrying.

A Chinese proverb says "投鼠忌器" (web translate: spare the rat to save the dishes), oop, do you read Chinese? If I use stick or anything else to beat the mice, I'm afraid of accidentally smashing other things, so hands are best for catching mice. They are so small and so fast, you really can't guarantee you'll hit your target with stick without smashing other things in the house. Anyway, I'd never got bitten by a mice. I know how to catch them safe.

Oh hell yes.. In the US you can go to WalMart or nearly any sporting goods store and buy ammo..

May I ask... how much does it cost a Glock hand gun, a M-4 rifle and their ammo...? Do you need to apply any license before buying fire arm?

Don't know the cost. But a permit is needed to purchase a weapon that would include a background check.

Re: Chinese Daily Photos, Videos & News of 2013!!!

A Glock pistol is about $500-700 a ar series can vary based on make and model from $1,200 to 5,000 however a colt m4 is not.available on the open market as the barrel length and selective fire feature require additional registration. Colt is at the higher end of the spectrum, double that price (at least) for both a atf sbr tax stamp and class 3 license assuming you are in a state.that does not further restrict such arms..
