What is the dear leader up to this time? Nuclear peace talks, foreign food aid, or perhaps secret talks related to the Cheonan sinking???

Kim visits China, shows persisting frailty

Kim Jong Il's peek-a-boo visit to China this week reportedly included meetings in Beijing with top Chinese officials and some factory walkabouts, although Chinese officials refused to confirm that the North Korean leader was in the country.

What has been confirmed this week -- thanks to the diligence of Japanese and South Korean news media -- is that Kim, 68, has not recovered from a stroke he suffered in 2008.

Video clips showed him dragging his left foot as he walked, with his left arm almost motionless. He also appeared to have lost weight and hair, suggesting to some experts the effects of kidney dialysis.

North Korea watchers say they think Kim traveled to China in search of investment and aid, particularly food. North Korea's moribund economy has been squeezed by tighter U.N. sanctions, and a food shortage this spring has reportedly caused starvation in some areas.

Kim met with Chinese President Hu Jintao on Wednesday night and with Premier Wen Jiabao on Thursday, according to South Korea media. In return for aid, experts predict, Kim may be willing to resume denuclearization talks that the country abandoned last year.

The talks are on indefinite hold, however, because of the unresolved sinking of a South Korean warship March 26 that killed 46 sailors.

Maybe trying to get China to commit to NK's 'peaceful' rise in power? Or get some help from the Chinese in developing and miniaturising their nuclear warhead so it can to loaded onto a ballistic missile... hahaha! Seriously though... because of the uncertainty of the SK ship sinking and SK's reaction, although up till now no one know who is to be blamed for the sinking, there must be some spectaculation that it was NK within SK, and NK might be rallying as much help as possible just in case SK decided to attack...

One thing for sure is that NK might be needing as much help as possible right now, due to the number of problems she might be facing... shortage of food, resources, money, and right about everything. And she might need some help with the nuclear peace talk and finally the SK threat.

Whatever the reason, She must be really testing China's patience. She should count herself lucky that China has bigger fish to fry.

There is also the possibility that Kim is discussing the issue of succession with the Chinese leadership. Looks like the man doesn't have very long to live so he better get everything sorted out if he wants his family to stay in power.

... and get all the help and support from the Chinese in case the generals in NK wanted to oust his son out of his throne... so pathetic.

Do you think that the North Korean generals would have the guts to pull off a coup? If a Deng Xiaoping-esque figure emerges in North America it will immediately be game over for the Kim family. I'm sure some North Korean version of Gang of Four will take the blame and North Korea might become a miniature China after it reforms economically, much like Vietnam.
