Actually I'm quite surprised that the PLA seems determined to get WZ10 in service, given that there are quite some armored fighting vehicles, SSPs, tanks waiting, and they are much cheaper.

Dear Sir:

The attack helicopter provides the army commander with long-range, mobile, accurate and flexible fire support with a rapid response time. It can, on short notice fly-out and perform strikes on the enemy while your artillery and armor are still on the approach march.

Although strike and dedicated ground-attack aircraft also perform this function, the helicopter's ability to hover and hug the terrain closely allows for much intimate coordination and close support.

In combination with other types of helicopters - surveillance and transport, it allows an entirely new type of operation - vertical assault; which the Americans pioneered in Vietnam.

As the army's ground formations all over the world are now in the process of downsizing, helicopters give you a tremendous boost in capability with less manpower, albeit at a high cost.

Best Regards,

oooh is that the first video of it we've seen? Nice.

I'm not an expert, but it seemed to be just hovering very close to the ground, just some testing, turning, etc... very unclear video :(

Too bad nobody on this forum cared to see this video, anyway any comments is better than no comments.

Is it actually a Z-10? First of all, it's too far. The only thing obvious is the shape of it. Also, in the video (~1.28-1.30 minute), I saw a flash of white and red stripes. Could it be an American flag? If it was, why would a U.S. flag be located near a Chinese top-secret facility?

actually it does look like wz10. while through most of the clip the shape is a bit vague, and could be several copters - mangusta, tiger, rooivalk; at one point the help does turn its underside towards the camera and the shape of the winglets is clearly visible. I do not know that any of the mentioned helos have winglets of such shape.

, and this video has not been posted before, its a new one, and the guy who posted it on youtube, did confirm that it is from china, plus if u look at the helicopter it does not resembles the Tiger which the Spanish army has, it has a 4 blade rotor, Apache has 4 blade, Agusta A129 International Version has a 5 blade rotor and WZ-10 has a 5 blade rotor. Pic for difference between Tiger & the helicopter at 0.03 sec in the video is given, number of rotors can be seen.

It doesn't resembles Apache, so we have 2 contenders left, one is WZ-10 & 2nd would be the Agusta A129 International Version.

Also three difference that i note ( i may be wrong) between these two helicopters are, the weapons station wing of A129 is flat & straight, but in WZ-10 pictures if u see they are not purely rectangular plus seem tilted in a froward swing shape, which in the start of the video can be observed (if my eyesight is observing it properly), 2ndly the tail rudder of A129 is way in the back of the tail, like an Apache, but in WZ-10 they are little forward from the tail end, which can be observed in the video too. 3rdly, the profile of the helicopter in the video is a fat one, meaning it seems fat which WZ-10 is if u look at it, while A129 has a more slimmer kind of profile.

the people are speaking Putonghua (i.e. Mandarin)

See the pics, the forward swept looking weapons wing station, the tail rudder is not in the end of the tail but little forward, and in the pic where it is flying with J-11 see how fat the WZ-10 looks.

It is definitely wZ-10 and by its looks and maneuverability it rocks man. :china:

PS or not, for me its seem plausible that they are testing the WZ-10 with a dome installed over the main rotor.
