The pictures are new and just posted so more than likely these are new submarines... unless the photographer have been hoarding the pictures or the subs went back to the shipyard, which are both unlikely.
Isn't it (being new Yuan) more because of the transition from the sail to the hull is smooth in the new Yuan than rectangular of the older Yuan?

So the next batch of conventional submarine is going to be Yuan or the brand new TYPE (name) ?
And how many Yuan submarines are there in service ? Wikipedia says 15, is it correct ?
