I see why you ask. The answer is NO, I have never seen such photos, not in this forum, nor any other Chinese BBS.

I think the PLAN is deliberately making sure that outsider won't be sure of anything by avoiding any identifiable markings on their sub. When one spot a single sub in different time and/or location, one would not know if one is seeing the same boat or another. When two boats of the same variant show up at the same time and location, one can only say PLAN has at least two of such boats, but one can saying nothing else. Neither can one conclude how many boats have one port as home port (regional deployment).

Now I am not trying to say anything definitive, but even with all the differences in perspective and lenses, the various height levels of sub components seems to be fairly similar. Except for the height of the hump.

The crew is roughly to scale, the waterline at bow and waterline at stern are roughly the same level, the horizontal surfaces on the sail are roughly the same size and at same level, the rudder is roughly on similar level... but not the hump. I'd say one can't throw away the possibility that earlier 09IV did indeed have a smaller hump.

I mean fifth 09IV sub that was commissioned into PLAN. There was a newsbit about a new nuclear sub being presented in this parade, one that was never before shown. So, IF there were 4 09IV subs in service before the parade (known for some years) then by some logic this latest variant could indeed be the fifth one.

On that topic of different 09IV variants, another comparison image.

Are you comparing the 094 vs the 092?

092 has two rows of opening while the 094 has 3 rows.

Here's all the chinese SSBN I could find:

09II. Four rows of holes on the hump. Hump possibly shorter even than the next sub to be shown. Sail is straight forward but has a curve on the back side.

This is what I believe to be the first 09IV. Front of the sail straight, back of the sail has a curve on both top and the back edge. Two rows of holes on the hump. Smaller hump.

Same submarine as above. (!!) The curve on the sail tower roof, near the back, is more evident. Doesn't seem to be the same as 09II submarine curve. Tailfin lacks the sonar array, which will appear in later variants.

Different submarine. Sail is now completely squre. There are 3 rows of holes on the hump. Hump itself appears bigger. Tail has a sonar array on top.

Another 094 variant. The said got its curves up front. Holes on the hump, size of hump and tail seem to be the same.

Latest 094 variant from 2019 parade. Sail seems roughly similar and curved to previous variant. But the hump is now down to just one row of holes.

There are some other differences between the subs as well but I won't go into details to simplify stuff.

Pic 1, Pic 2 and Link 1 are all 092. 091 and 092 went though multiple upgrades during their life. Pic 3 onwards are 094.

    Maybe @Interstellar can confirm?

If that's all 092 then that changes things, of course.
But by same logic, how to we track the 094 then? We could have a single 094 boat going though various upgrades and changes so it appears different in two different images.

There is only one 092 ever produced. The single 092 went through multiple upgrades, adding anechoic tiles, modifications for JL-1A?, sonar, etc.

Yeah, it possible they upgraded one of the 094 and maybe that is the sub we saw in the 2018 parade. But unlike the 092, multiple 094 are being built and the sub we see in 2019 is a newly built one, with improvements ground up by design and not just an upgrade or modification. During the 2019 parade, I think they specifically said that it is a new sub. Remember the 093 also went through such an evolution.

It's weird that the forum doesn't notice me when someone @s me:oops:

@Hyperwarp is right. The TAS pod on the rudder is a distinguisher.

The two 09IV attended the parade were 412 and 413 and the first of their kind is 411, so it is not very likely that any one of them is the fifth 09IV.

So there is likelihood there are just 3 09IV in commission, rather than five? If I am interpreting your words correctly?
