All posts related to the idea of the PRC bulindg hundreds of small SSNs to escort and protect its SSBNs have been moved to the Ask Anything Thread.

It is an off the wall suggestion, and such questions belong there.

In addition, the posts regarding Taiwan ports and Airports being closed, and the one question about moving nuclear weapons into space were moved there.

If you are looking for your posts regarding any of they types of thing, and want to continue those discussions, do so there.

This tread is for the existing Type 093/094/095 Nuclear Submarines and news, posts, etc. regarding them.

Keep it on topic and post off the wall suggestions or questions to that other thread.

DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS MODERATION.

Watching the available images of the recent month on google earth I think we have 4 new Typ 093 to consider.
The two original ones seems to be more or less "static" at sanya base in the period Nov 14 to Feb 15.

At Huludao we can figure out three boats. But they are not of the same kind.
Two of them have a (docking?) hatch aft of the sail.

but one have not!

I think we have two new sub-types of the 093mod. Two are fit out for swimmer device vehicles (093T) and one is for vertical launch of YJ-18 cruise missiles just aft of the sail (093G).
In the period December 14 to Feb 15 the 093G is static at Huludao.
In the same time (January 15) we can see another of these boats (093G) at Xiaopingdao!

So my conclusion is that there are six boats now, of three different sub-types: two 093, two 093T and two 093G.
Cheers

Seeing these photos, I've arrived a theory that the original "improved 093" first seen in 2013 is the 093B/G while the new variant with an alleged hump is actually the 095.

This might well be! It is hard to figure out the exact Chinese Designation right now. They seem to react just on the things the world already knows from google earth or western media.
Once the DoD expected 095 at 2015.
BTW: Some images in google earth are worthwhile to measure the length of the Chinese Boats.
You can find out that these figures are usually overestimated.
For example:
the first three 091 are about 94m. At least the last two (#404/405) are streched and are about 98m.

The first two 093 are about 103m and the new series seems to be 107/108m.

Something's afoot at Huludao, the construction site of China's nuclear submarines.

The dry dock shown here is 185 meters long; the question is, what is under the previously nonexistent blue roof?

View attachment 15534

Henri K. has a series of photos showing the dry docks' progression from 2014.

Hope you were being facetious, That it not a roof, but is a launch platform which carries the new construction vessel (sub or merchant ship) into the dry dock when it is flooded. If it was a roof we wouldn't be able to see the sides and it would be wider than the dry dock gate.
