The LPD is sound

In terms of carrying capacity it has plenty

Both in terms of rotary and well deck, 4 x Z8 and 4 x LCAC

Question always is when and why doesn’t it carry more

Why doesn't It carry more ?

May I say that it has an incomparable aerial deployment capability (compared to similiar vessels) with the air wing it embarks.

I have yet to see a class carrying 5 LCACs; 4 have been the maximum. Notice that the type 071 class achieve such feat while also having a vehicle bay, compared to, for example the Whidbey Island class which doesn't have such infrastructure.

IMO the type 071, Versatile and optimised, is the best you can have for amphibious warfare.

Why ? Did you expect the US to announce publicly that Taiwan, an ally, was a lost cause?
No, because that would contradict reality.

The latest published studies I came across for the Taiwan invasion scenario (2017) still indicated a strong probability the PLA would be defeated should the US intervene (and that was assuming Japan and Korea stay fully neutral).

Maybe you can post your studies here so we can discuss about them ?

I don't think this thread would be the right place to discuss the study, but since you asked this is what I was having in mind:
