One thing I noticed, pics of any 056 with a real helo landing or taking off seem to be rare.
Well, these vessels were built to conduct littoral patrols and operations and do not generally have a helo embarked.. They have the pad, but no hanger and so can fuel a helo when necessary.

As such, unless they are working with a helo for ASW, SAR, or other patrol functions, you will not see one aboard.

Having said that, if they are conducting ASW or SAR operations...or training...you will see them. We do have a few pictures of them doing that type of thing.

Thanks, I'm aware these vessels do not have hangars and will most likely not embark with their own helo. But as you say, there should be some training ops but we don't seem to see many. Aren't some of those pics you've posted just dummy units for sea trials? It be very cool to see pics of helo ops on those decks like the way we've seen them on the 054As.

Not too sure what is this, is it re-positioned torpedo launcher or newly added multi-purpose chaff/rocket launcher? This location was occupied by life-raft capsules in earlier version.

Why do you say that?

NavyRecognition which is a well recognized naval site uses the same here:

And Janes also has used those pics

In addition, I believe all of these stills with the blue helicopter and the background were from either a training, or more likely a trial or qualification cruise in 2013 which was widely reported in the Chinese press..

You can see numerous photos from that same exercise/cruise. Are they all faked?

Now, perhaps sites have edited the photos to remove media logos, verbiage, etc. but I believe the photos of the Type 056 with the blue helo are certainly not fakes.

As I wrote before, the first and last photos were fake. Only those two.
The helipad seems to be one deck below the level it actualy is.
