054/A FFG Thread II

If the 30th Type 054A is the bow on the left, then what's coming out on the right? From Pakdef by LJK86. The picture also comes with a date stamp. Red arrows are my own.

I don't know how much of a fish eye effect may be at the edge of this photo but what's on the left may not be a 054A, the photo extends far enough to the left and the ship closer to the camera is short enough that if it is a 054A we should be able to see part of the top of its superstructure.

It appears that PN has a well thought out plan to evolve and build out for the future.
  • In 2006, Pakistan ordered four F-22P (an upgraded variant of the Type 053H3) for $750 million US.
  • In 2012, the PN inducted its first of four Azmat-class fast attack craft (FAC) ordered from China Shipbuilding and Offshore Company Limited (CSOC) for reportedly $50 million US per ship.
  • In 2015, Pakistan inked its largest single big-ticket purchase from China to-date in the form of eight new air-independent propulsion (AIP)-equipped submarines (SSP).
  • In 2017 and 2018, the PN has committed to four Type 054A frigates.
Given its defense budget limit, this is pretty strong commitment to its navy by Pakistan. It's a also very smart procurement strategy -- all these platforms are very mature ones and have been mass produced by China for PLAN. PN gets very good prices for them.

I wonder what's next after the 054A acquisition - are 4 052D's in store? Let's say if PN aims for them in the next five years, it would significantly raise PN's profile in the region and make PN a very respectable navy.

Don’t forget plenty of parts! That’s always important that many politicians and laymen don’t care about but critical component of any major capital acquisition.

How about the first two original Chinese 052C, still very very good and China might want to "sell" it to a good friend like Pakistan with a very good price

Interesting yes

The longer the production runs the harder it is to stop them because the price tag just keeps dropping and it ends up justifying more units

Who knows what the price tag for a Type 052D will be after 18 units

You can further add below to above acquisitions:

02 Damen Class OPVs (under construction)
04 Melgim Class Corvettes (Contract signed)
12 Heavy Corvettes/Light Frigates (Design/Weapons/Electronics all final with China - IMO, we will see C28A type design).
