22nd commissioned...five more building. Seems like there will be at least 28 of these vessels.

Very capable, very modern FFGs, and then add the two Type 054s and you have thirty very good blue water FFGs.

When you add what is likely to be 18 Type 052D DDGs and the 6 Type 052C DDGs to what is likely going to be 12 Type 055 DDGs, and then the 11 other DDGs the PLAN has (51C, 51B, 52B, 52, and Sovs), that's 47 DDGS!

Very soon the PLAN is going to have almost 80 very modern and capable blue water surface combatants in the Western Pacific.

Amazing!

32 ;) NavyReco provide some nice indiscretions :)

According to the latest information from our sources in China, following the initial order of 24 Type 054A frigates, the Chinese Navy would have recently added an additional order for 8 vessels of the type. However there should be no further Type 054A Frigate commissioned in the PLAN until the end of the year.

Those vests on the marines look several sizes too big. They are hanging loose and not providing anywhere as much protection as properly sized vests of the same design would offer.

Also, that's the first time I have seen an active duty PLA trooper using a proper helmet mount, although even that looks like it is tied onto the helmet by the back strap rather than being integrated directly into the helmet.

I think these are the little niggly areas that are hard a real eye sour, but which will be stamped out real quick if the PLA ever fight in a real war. But sadly, they will loose some lives unnecessarily until those lessons are learnt if they go into battle like that.

It has to be several sizes large in order to fit over a thick winter coat or jacket. Vests are not necessary for summer time use only.

Very nice pics. Thanks!

That's a German Braunschweig-class corvette, with two RAM launchers, a 76mm gun, two 27mm auto cannons, and four ASW missiles, displacing about 1,900 tons. It also has a pad and spaces fro two VSUVs. Also a Spanish BAM (Buque de Acción Marítima) OPV, with a 76mm gun and two 25mm cannons, also a pad and hanger for an NH-90 helo. It displaces about 2,650 tons.

Both are decent vessels, but the true FFG there is the Type 054A class.
