This means 46 or 47 combatants Frigates in fact.

Forb, I helped out with your post. To say 3/4 (and I know you meant 3 or 4) could easily be read as three-fourths.

Yes and these FF are not completely disarmed remains some guns maybe not the main talking especially for SSM but with their missions Training/Test they are not combattants only eventually in war time.

Why isn't the PN expressing more interest in the 054A type? Seems like it would make a very strong addition to their surface fleet, providing much needed medium range air defence to any PN fleet.

In any India-Pakistan conflict, the winner will be decided by who has control of the air.

With air superiority comes control of the land conflict, which is the deciding factor in said conflict.

Rumor is that PN is looking for up to 4 054A ( PN specific weapons and electronic ), not sure how accurate is the rumor, also another 4 F-22Ps ( upgraded weapons, i.e SAM )

Pakistan has limited defense budget and can't compete with India in a cross-the-board arm race. It needs to spend its money wisely and in an asymmetric way. When it comes to Navy, PN is better off to invest in conventional submarines than high-end surface combatants like 054A.

PN is working on different projects with Chinese counterparts (as news around through sources).

1. SSK Project - Initially PN was interested in U214s then Merlin's but both were scraped in the favor Chinese subs thanks to their progress & narrowing the gaps in almost every department if not all. The result is PN signed a deal of 8 SSKs (S20s/039Gs) SLCM capable.
2. FFG Project - It comprises on 2 different leagues (Light & Heavy weights), A) An upgraded version of F22p, PN is looking another 4 of such vessels. B) 054A type of vessel, again 4 such vessels on list. Sources are saying that characteristics of both are now final & in advance stage of deal.
3. OPV/Corvette - PN is in talks for a design which fall in between Type 056 & C28A & expected numbers are 8-10.

Pakistan is arranging the finanace for SSKs, while FFG & OPV will be on soft loan basis like F22Ps.
