054/A FFG Thread II

I know the PLAN vessels visited...but thast is an old pic of 548.

548, like other PLAN vessels, has converted over to a whilte shadowed block lettering for the pennant numbers.

hah! I searched Polish press again, it seems the radar-arrays of DDG-152 "Yinan" received most of the attention :) the best picture I found of "Qiandaohu" and FFG-548 "Yiyang" from the visit is only this:

and one "close-up" of the arrival moment:

Visit Gdynia the main homeport of Polish Navy but now to Kiel, Kiel canal
before Sweden, Finland also around the Baltic.
The main important this proves they are able to make very long deplyments far of China, the CS serving workshop ship for repairs eventually i think. I have 23000 km half of world tour.

"Zhang notes that the reports may have been confused by the movements of the PLA Navy's 152 Fleet — headed by the Jinan guided-missile destroyer along with the Yiyang frigate and the Qiandaohu supply ship — which has been conducting activities in the Mediterranean this year. After completing a four-month escort mission, the fleet began a five-month global tour from Aug. 23 that began from the Gulf of Aden region includes passing through the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean and Baltic Sea. The fleet passed through the Mediterranean in late August/early September and has so far visited Sudan, Egypt, Denmark and Finland, he said.

Zhang states that the 152 Fleet's voyage is planned and has no direct connection to the Middle East. The fleet will next head to Poland, the US, Cuba and Mexico, he said."

Looking at the latest entries in the 054A list.........ive noticed a couple of discrepancies!

1/ 054A No 578 Yangzhou was actually commissioned on the 21st Sept 2015

see SDF post #3037

2/ 054A No 579 is actually called the Handan, and was commissioned on the 16th Aug 2015.
The name you have of Sanmenxia is actually a name of one of the 056's.

see SDF post #2976 onwards.

Also for cross reference see the Chinese Wiki page on the 054A Frigate:-

Great! That's exactly the kind of feedback we are looking for.

We want to have a good, current list here on SD. I will fix.
