The ship has to leave port yesterday, along with the Japanese Navy ships in Yokosuka to avoid a typhoon, and will get back to port when the typhoon passes. The celebrations are postponed for the next two days. Also a first for Japan is that the ship will be open house for visitors during its stay, so the photo bloggers are going to grab this chance.

Result of their trade war.
Despite the tensions throughout the region, despite their considerable political differences, after a 12-year gap, a Chinese Navy surface combatant finally visits Japan. I say, its remarkable and not without a deeper motive.

And President Xi Jinping is scheduled to pay a state visit to Japan next year, the first visit to Japan by a Chinese president in eleven years after the previous visit by President Hu Jintao. Tells you something about the bi-lateral relationship in the current international environment.

The reality is trump’s foreign policy, by breaking with so many previously established norms of American foreign policy, cast the value of alliance with America in deep doubt in Tokyo.

Tokyo may not openly do anything that would clearly be interpreted to be intentionally distancing herself from Washington, and would continue to bay obeisance to Washington in the hopes that the current period will pass, American foreign policy will stabilize and resume their previous course, and alliance between japan and America will survive and continue. But she certainly is hedging her bets and reacting to the fact that for all of america’s Recent superficial bluster, American position in Asian pacific may implode quite quickly, in the manner of soviet position in Eastern Europe in 1989, from sheer fickleness, diplomatic cluelessness, and subjugation of foreign relations to very short range domestic political goals, leaving Tokyo to deal with China alone.

So she wants to not find herself with extremely bad relations with Beijing should the implosion occur suddenly.
