Not for me. The 055 project is years away from significantly shaping PLAN capabilities, whereas 052D should be filling the bathtub as we speak, yet there is a mysterious lack of apparent movement...
The lack of report in the report and forums is because people aren't as interested in 052D any more since it's more or less common place now.

With just 6 units in active service as of now, I will definitely not call the Type 52D common. Even the Type 56As and 54As (both which are much more bland and more numerous in numbers) get more reports and that is solely because they are commissioned on a regular basis which is the point. The 52D is currently experiencing a backlog in commission rate for no apparent reason.
The first 4 units were commissioned within 2 years of being launch, then from the 5th onwards it is lengthen to an inexplicable 3 years.

But out of those 8, 2 are still under going sea trials. So they will only be in full service in the later part of this year.
It's much more likely that they've already been commissioned ... here's a quote from 星海军事 (credible PLAN source) about this. Besides, I doubt sea trials would last that long, especially since the last public commissioning was almost a year ago.
I have been overconfident. This might be bad news to some of you -- an instruction has been given to stop report on commission events.

What lack of movement? If you have seen my posts on the satellite imagery on Jiangnan, at the end of February, there were a total of 4 Type 052Ds within the shipyard. By early February, there is only one left.

There are 8 commisioned 052D possibly 9.
6 commissioned:

DDG-172
DDG-173
DDG-174
DDG-175
DDG-117
DDG-154

Four in sea trials,

DDG-118
DDG-119
DDG-155
DDG-131

four more fitting out fitting out

So, to date, 10 are at sea and four firring out...meaning 14 lunched since 2012 in about 5 1/2 years. Almost three per year. .

Four more are in preliminary construction. Thats 18 right there. I expect we will probably a total of somewhere between 24 and 30.
