So large dedicated command spaces in Mistral class as one of key features of the project don't exist anymore?(or half a dozen of spacy warships with the same feature in mind)
And USN doesn't keep cruisers in fleet anymore, despite all associated costs?
Just add a large screen on the superstructure LOL.
P.s. and cells, of course, or it's underarmed.

actually I hoped you'd address what another member said in #2492
(hope it's obvious I don't try to drag anybody into anything)
which basically was (if I didn't misunderstand!)
the PLAN doesn't need any extra comms etc. as stuff is already on board,
the setup depends only on a size of the task force to be commanded;

EDIT so I figured there would be no "large dedicated command spaces" (from your post) needed for the newest PLAN warships (according to that guy), as the additional crew would just plug in into consoles not normally used, the additional top brass siting in for example a skipper's room in front of large flat screen with feed which otherwise would be unavailable to said skipper etc. if you know what I'm saying

The question is, when will we see the Type 052Ds actually commissioned. I was expecting 118 and 119 to do so in the first quarter (and 155 to follow afterwards) but haven't heard anything as yet. A part of me is secretly worried about manning issues - let's see how the PLAN irons this out.

Where he cites 26 Type 052D to be made, though I know this blog follows Henri Kenhmann's twitter feed and blog, along with Dafeng Cao's. This 26 number is echoed into the wiki page for Type 052D, using this quote as its reference.

If this is true, its going to be a long time, some time, before we reach the end of the road for this ship, since it appears we only just passed just over half of it. This seems consistent to the pattern that recent PLAN contracts are both ambitious and voluminous in order to attain the highest volume amortization cost reductions as possible. This is also an indication that the PLAN is strongly satisfied with the ship.

I do wonder if the Type 052D themselves have minor blocks, with internal batches focused on refinement and improvements without noticeable external differences.

But with recent pics evolved from JN & DL, we have seen 5 (3 launched/ 2 under construction) in DL, while in JN the numbers reached 16 (14 launched / 1 almost ready to launch / 1 under construction).

Hence, the numbers are already crossed 18 (suggested units earlier) ..... 21 in total now..... so what will be the final count ????

As far as I have seen and read, the current total count of 052D's built, or being built is 17 vessels. This can be clarified on the Chinese 052D Wiki page, which so far has been very good at keeping upto date with Chinese warship construction build numbers!

17 Launched (14 from JN & 3 from DL)..... 4 under construction....

1 almost ready to launch & 1 is under construction.
