So 9th Destroyer Flotilla is full now the next 052D for the 1st, NSF to Qindao-Jiaonan/Guzhenkou Bay.

The two 052C to Yalong Bay possibly replaced by 052D remain there ? or can replace Luda to Zhanjiang to see...

The two 052C's will very likely go to the SSF 2nd Destroyer Flotilla eventually.

By the end of next year (2017), we will have four more 052D's in service:

NSF 1st Destroyer Flotilla: 117, 118
ESF 6th Destroyer Flotilla: 154, 155

All fleets will then have 052D's with a total of eight; that's pretty impressive.

. Yes it is. Is that the likely final total number?

Latest news on the 052D Destroyer class.

It is being reported that a module of another 052D has appeared at the JN shipyard, reportedly said to being that of the 10th said vessel at that shipyard, and so far 13th overall.
The Chinese, are sure building a formidable surface fleet, and by 2020, all of the Luda class should of been retired by then.

It seems the total number likely be 18 or more ... gooosh, PLAN must be extremely happy with 052D ;)

Personally, I would switch to series production of the Type-55 as soon as it is proven out.

Plus China would need to commission an average of almost 3 destroyers per year - if they wanted a steady state of some 80-90 AEGIS destroyers in the future.

Allow me i find your numbers completely wacky, some members have try do forecasts and saying about 40 max IIRC.

Chinese Navy get with the 4th 052D now 27 DDG, 2/3 years ago have 25 the number remains stable but with an clear increase for quality.

Well, in 10 years time we can expect the Chinese military to be spending more than the USA - whilst the Chinese economy would be significantly bigger.

So why wouldn't the Chinese Navy be building 3 AEGIS destroyers per year, given that it's the same build rate as the USA?

Plus there's going to be shipyard overcapacity for at least the next 5 years (and probably much longer), so I think it likely they will continue with the same build rate as we see currently.

We can also see that Chinese military challenges are all naval in nature.

Ship numbers in the PLAN have remained broadly stable, but that is mainly because there was no point in keeping old obsolete ships in service.
