PLAN Naval Aviation Training Facility

As far as potential catapult systems...this thread is about the PLAN Naval Aviation Training Facility.

If located at the Training Facility, then it will be one or the other catapult system, as I suspect that the PLAN will put the one there that they intend to use.

I am not sure they are at that stage yet.

If at a research and development facility, then they might have both for comparison and development of the one they would ultimately use.

Maybe it is a cost saving move. Once you test both and decide which one you want, you can continue to use that one for training instead of building a new one at the training centre

I saw an article somewhere in the internet, that the US EMALS test installation has one storage module for one catapult and the carrier has three storage modules for four catapults.

My understanding of following wiki link

is that, one linear motor (one catapult) requires energy up to 484MJ, which requires four modules, each module is a disk alternator which can store 121MJ, four of them make 484MJ.
so my understanding is one catapult has four modules.
Here is how a EMALS ESS module look like . The size seems to be similar to the module in China.
I could be wrong, so if you can show me the article you mentioned, I'd appreciate it.

Will it be possible to make an estimation of the length of this (potential) catapult(s)?

After all, there is an outline marking of the Liaoning close by; the arrestor landing training setup...

Sorry, no, I did not found it again.

But for better wording: one system consists of four modules and the carrier has three systems = twelve modules.

is this another training center for the newbies?

Hmmm ... this is the well known Naval Aviation Training Base at Qinhuangdao-Shanhaiguan;
equipped with JL-9H (81x7x-serials), 2nd Training Regiment (in fact the former 7th Div, 19th AR)

That s a GREAT aircraft for Naval Training.

I want to see them trapping on Liaoning on a training cruise.
