This flying torpedo will revolutionize the anti Sub warfare . No more limited to the platform, this flying torpedo will be send to its target as soon as the sub is identified
Rumor has it that it passed all the test and the design is finalized via LKJ 86

This GEV would be an absolutely terrible ASW missile. When it comes to ASW, speed is of the essence (far more than for ASuW), and this missile will not cut the mustard. It would make for a nice long-range ASCM, however.

Not if you ASW tracking in place like the planned UGW plus those ground effect torpedo has turbofan and you can add loitering system. It is not like one shot chance

Chances are if you send this missile out without a submarine target already located, you're probably wasting this missile. Loitering weapons should have a high chance of being useful but ASW is like fishing; you could get nothing all day. Meanwhile this missile has a flight time of about 1.5 hours (allegedly), making this and "loitering ASW missiles" in general a waste of money. This GEV is clearly meant to be a long-range sea-skimming large-payload ASCM, not an ASW missile.

I seriously doubt anyone can target a submarine from a 1 hour flight time

Looking for a submarine is like looking for a needle in a haystack

Not going to be happen

You have to tie down a serious amount of assets to hunt a submarine

Best way to counter a hunter killer is to deploy your own hunter killer

China is deploying an underwater submarine detection network similar to the US SOSUS network, in addition to other, more classified systems and assets.

Add in the recently built ASW helicopter bases in the SCS, and you will see what this missile is designed for.

The long loitering time is more an insurance policy, as it is possible, likely even, for a track by the Sino-SOSUS and other passive detection assets to be intermittently lost during missile flight time; as the hostile sub moves out of range of one detection node and into the range of another.
