PLAN Fleet supply vessels

As per PAKDEF & other forums, PN is in serious talks with their Chinese counter parts for 4-6 more F22P, plus 4FFGs - 4K tons with better AAW/ASW & 6-8 OPVs (056 type) & of course 6 QUING SSKs.

I do not think that there is any requirment for any more F22P frigates, it's been made clear that the requirment is for something more advanced than the F22P but less than the Type 054A, which lies somewhere close to the Type 054, PN thinks 3 times before committing and if there was a requirment the production run would have continued

Also I do not see Type 056 fitting in anywhere into PN, Azmat Class is good enough they are tailored and meet the requirements specific to PN

Currently have 6 x Type 21 frigates, 4 x F22P and USS Mclnerney totalling 11 frigates

It does not look like we will be getting any of more of the original 6 x OHP promised by America to replace the old Type 21 frigates so adding in 4-6 new frigates would make sense

As for submarines the requirment is for 6 x SSK and possibly 1-2 SSNs added to the current 5 would give 13 submarines

This could be why a new replenishment tanker is under development, a slightly downsized version of the Type 903

Let me correct myself here & should be like that:

4-6 F22P (Upgraded version with SAM)
OPVs (similar to 056 or Milgem)

I agree that if PN purchases an additional 4-6 F22P it will be an upgraded version, the original 054 doesn't really offer any more capabilities than the F22P besides better stealth and endurance. I was thinking more in the line of a stealthier F22P+ with FL3000 as the CIWS. The replenishment ship will most likely be the newly designated R22T (export 903). I also agree that ships such as the 056 has no place in PN, they will need something with a lot more firepower and cheaper to operate than what essentially is a law enforcement vessel, 022 is not a bad choice if they are not completely satisfied (which I doubt) with Azmat.

It seems that’s China can almost make anything that any country requires to specific needs in terms of naval ships

For PN the new frigate must borrow from the already successful stealth hull shapes of existing Chinese vessels

Yes the FL-3000 would be a requirement attached to mounts of the 2 independent Type 730 guns, overall the air defence needs to be greatly enhanced we only have 8 non-reloadable FL-90 missiles on F22P!

Also the SUR-17 radar would be replaced with a more powerful 3D search radar

The addition of a TAS specific to local conditions

And UAV operations which have already been tested by Pakistan, this would mean when the Z9C the only asset other the sonar comes in for re-fuelling, re-arming or changing crews we have operational some kind of airborne surveillance, because the eyes and ears need to be looking out for submarines 24/7 in war time

It seems more than a little strange to use the Ka-27/31 model on an underway replenishment ship.

It would be more useful for them to test using a Z-8 or another utility helicopter.

PLAN should be focusing more on ASW to protect these blue-ocean assets.

Right. I repost from the PLAN inventory thread:
The PLAN replenishment fleet currently comprises just five ships (AOR) of three different types, the FUCHI class (Type 903), the FUQING class (Type 905) to which the Pakistani NASR A 47 belongs, and the single ex-Soviet FUSU class (Pr. 1696/Type 908) which served as a model for the FUCHI class. By fleet, they are:

South Sea Fleet
FUSU class 885 QINGHAIHU ex VLADIMIR PEREGUDOV 1996
FUCHI class 887 WEISHANHU 2004

East Sea Fleet
FUQING clas 882 POYANGHU ex FENGCANG 1979
FUCHI class 886 QIANDAOHU 2004

North Sea Fleet
FUQING clas 881 HONGZEHU ex TAICANG 1979

IMO, the three Type 903A ordered from Guangzhou as reported by hmmwv will be a larger ship than the FUCHI class.

One person know their homeport ?

Qingdao-Jiaonan: 881
Zhoushan-Dinghai: 882, 886
Zhanjiang: 885, 887

As it turns out, PLAN only ordered two 903A, one each from Hudong and Guangzhou. They will be for ESF and SSF, respectively (889, 890?).
