Well, we have seen this baby in action on its trials. The now commissioned PLAN AOR-965:

...and she looks to be doing just fine. It's great to see that pennant number.

I think SCMP is jumping the gun a little.

The first 901 has obviously received its pennant number, but at this point we don't yet know if it's been commissioned or not. We all know that receiving a pennant number occurs before a ship is commissioned, but it doesn't mean that just because it's received a pennant number that is going to immediately be commissioned, and it definitely does not mean that just because a ship has received a pennant number that it has "been commissioned" as the article incorrectly states.

In the case of 965, considering it is the first of class of a new and very important replenishment ship type, I expect it will receive a commissioning ceremony that we will be aware of.

So I am skeptical that 965 has been commissioned yet.
