PLAN Fleet supply vessels

Well first we had the Type 054A, Type 052C and Type 903A for foreign port calls

Now we can expect Type 901, Carrier and Type 055

Defiantly have heads turning

My guess is not for at least 5 years.

This would technically be an AOE according to USN classification standards. The 903/A series would be AOR ships.

That is correct.

AOR is technically a replenishment oiler, while the AOE combines an oiler, ammunition and supplies.

901 is definitely going to be an AOE.

It will be interesting to see how they outfit these vessels for self defense.

I think they should have two Type 1130s and two FN-3000Ls. Such a vessel needs to be well defended, by escorts, but also for point CIWS from the ship itself.

i'm sure they will look to build more than one of them, but we will see.

I like these two shots in particular, one from the side showing its full length and the other showing the nice looking deckhouse/superstructure from the front angle.

Interesting the supply stations

We have 7 in total, 3 on the star board side 4 on the port side

Star board front refueling
Star board centre cargo
Start board aft refueling

Port front refueling
Port centre cargo
2 X Port aft refueling

So port side has 3 X refueling stations in total

So port side must be the carrier refueling side or most likely the carrier refueling side as the island of CV-16 and CV-17 is on the starboard side

So a carrier can be refuelled, replenished, rearmed and dry cargo via Type 901 port side

Also we have vertical replenishment by two medium or heavy sized Helos

This tanker should ensure plenty of supply's for long duration missions

Also must be fast 25 knots to keep pace with carrier strike package
