Thanks. Fixed the point on the 885 guns.

And yes, they have shown the ability to function with UNREP well, all the way over to the Arabian Sea...and with their larger LPDs.

Soon we will see a picture of them doing so with the carrier and that will be another major milestone. Either 885, 886, or 887 with the carrier on one side and a DDG or FFG on the other.

888 is not a fleet replenishment vessel. Though it is based on the Fuchi Class hull, it was built specifically to resupply the various Chinese held islands in the South China Sea from the mainland and is not outfitted for fuel or stores UNREP operations. That's why I did not include it.

DANYAO class 888 FUXIANHU performs the same role as the two DAYUN class ships 883 DONGTINGHU and 884 JINGPOHU.

Though 888, as Jeff Head points out, is a very different design (a shortened version of FUCHI class Type 903), it has almost the same Type designation, 904A, as the DAYUN class, Type 904.

(I guess we will see the same with 903 – 903A).

there is no longer 888 in service with PLAN. It got re-assigned to FLEC as YuZheng 88.

While 888 may not be outfitted for fuel for UNREP ops, surely it still brings fuel to the island outposts? Otherwise, does a separate commercial tanker bring fuel in? I am guessing these islands use portable generators for power.

If you look at the list in post # 6, you will see that SSF has a considerable number of tankers.

From an operational perspective, I think that 883, 884 and 888, which each carry 4 LCVP, would be quite useful in an amphibious scenario, rather like the AKA that the USN used to have.
