    Definitely. There seems to be prototype for it already compared to H20 which we don't even have an idea what it look like.
    Also KJ600 is using existing technology that china already mastered or is well on their way of mastering. Only obstacle is putting all the subsystems together and making sure they don't clash.
    H20 on the other hand is going to be all new subsystems that are mostly untested.

    I'm guessing we will see a working prototype within the next couple years. I think it will be ready for service before CV-18 is commissioned in the next several years.

    Well the thing is, KJ600 is not necessarily be produced by XAC, but very possible by S(hanxi)AC, who produced all the turboprop Gaoxin series.

    Are You sure ? I always thought and as reported by Huitong it we be from XAC.

    What I meant was that the CGI is not a CGI of a Hawkeye, but rather a CGI of what the artist expects the KJ-600 to look like.

    I personally expect the KJ-600 to basically look very close to the E-2, considering we have some pictures of the KJ-600 mock up on the Wuhan carrier mock up already, whose configuration, proportions and overall dimensions are very close to the E-2.

    a lot of works focus on the third JBD area, maybe KJ-600 testing is not far away...

    Actually, no.
    Search "common support aircraft" studies.
    At current stage, given common fear of supporting asset vulnerability - difference can be even greater.
