Well, in his defense, the first time we will see a two carrier Chinese Navy formation will be CV-16 and CV-17. CV-18 will come along in terms of an operational picture, several years later.

Certainly by the end of the 2020s we will have a chance of seeing three Chinese carriers together in formation...and I bet we do.
I have posted for the 2 first and i don' t see a 3rd ( 002 ) LOL coz the design is good the real in more too soon for a futur 002.

Time to finally break the news to y'all, gentlemen.

There's been an increasing amount of evidence to suggest that the 002 will use electromagnetic catapults rather than steam catapults. However, I refrained from posting any of that here because I felt that most of the evidence is rather insignificant, though much of it is reasonable and certainly was more compelling than the arguments for steam catapults, about which we've received no news for the past few months.

Today, I finally came across something a bit more convincing than just poking at satellite imagery and crafting elaborate theories. This somehow snuck its way into a Sichuanese TV channel's broadcast:

Translated: Aircraft carrier electromagnetic catapult material, representative type: Mn18Cr18N.

As mentioned by someone in the source thread, Mn18Cr18N is an austenitic, non-magnetic stainless steel. It's not a particularly uncommon alloy. What I'd like to emphasize is the fact that we have a source that specifies what type of steel will be used in electromagnetic catapult construction, in addition to what's already been leaked over the past few weeks.

This, plus the other tidbits of evidence that's been circulating around the Chinese forums, only serves to reinforce the belief that the 002 will feature electromagnetic catapults. I'm not going to be making predictions just yet, but if I had to guess between steam and electromagnetic, it would be the latter.

Whether it's steam or most likely electromagnetic catapult, let's go with it already! I can't wait to see it develop process like we've seen on the 001A construction.:D

Another leak posted today, I'm not sure how trustworthy this is, but if it turns out to be true, it'll be big news indeed.

A naval officer was giving a presentation at a school for marine engineering in Wuhan a few days ago, as a guest speaker. When asked about what type of catapults the 002 will use, he answered "electromagnetic" without hesitation.

The source had a photograph to support this claim.

Time will tell.

It will be a 2-3 year or more period before we can verify it by what we see on the deck of the carrier itself as it is building.

Do you know the different look of EMALS or steam catapults? I do not know. The shot of a steam cat is with visible steam, that is the difference.

IMO this is so far absolutely the most convincing piece of evidence we have so far to favor EM cat over steam cat.

If he's sent here to explain what does naval uniform look like, it's highly unlikely he really know something "high up".
