Yet it is very difficult with China ! then for submarines...
A thing Yuan construction slowed considerably definitely they don' t have money for all her budget is not illimited but her boats are clearly less espensive as Western thinking because law construction, conditions labor laws etc... a Chinese is paid less as US or Europeans.

And actually they build mainly surface ships especially 052D expensive AEGIS like with radars worth very expensive, ships which can do area AAW are more expensive for our Forbin about 1/4-1/3 of price for sensors and electronic !
Also new big 901...

Now with them you never will know their plans. First pics with 901 he was already half built same for the new CV and they have do a wall for hide in more.

Don't forget the 4th Type 071. It is launched and outfitting.
In sea trials only wait a little :)

Alright, since I found a bit of time over the holidays to work on my numbers here's another set of charts including an outlook for two years.

A few thoughs on the major surface combatants. The number of destroyers has grown a bit, but not much really. 051s started to retire after the acquisition of the last Sovs & first 052C made for a small bump. Then, a bunch of 051 went before accepting the first vessels from the 052C restart. So if 052Ds continue to replace 051s, the last of these PLAN legacy destroyers will be gone by around 2019 (with 10 052D in service). At this point, the oldest destroyers will be the 052s at 24/22 years old with a 7 year old upgrade.
With the next types being even younger and apparently all being upgraded in some way, that timeframe (around 2019) should be a point were retirement slows down and the overall numbers will finally grow, should the pace of building continue unabated. Which it probably does, considering 055 will also become a factor by then.

It is a very similar picture for the frigates. The 24th 054A should be commissioned by Jan '17. At which point there will by about 11-13 (I guess) 053 H1& H2 left. Will production of a 054A+/B/057 continue at the current pace, replacing these old frigates, the last 053H1/H2 will retire around Jan 2020. At this point, the oldest 053H3 should be just over 20 years old. It will be interesting to see if those recieve any upgrades over the coming years, indicating they may stay with PLAN and the overall numbers also grow. Or if the cost guard will start to pull those as well.

All of this leads my to believe that the 056s replace 037s on a similar almost-one-for-one basis.

So overall the numbers remain, but the tonnage obviously increases.

Submarine wise, there's definitely a slow-down in what we observe. And not much to add from what I already posted. Though the large 093G do make the force heavier.

The big new thing is the supply force. Numbers, & especially weight wise.

Input on my thoughts from above?

So my next activity will be to play that numbers & charts game with aircraft ... :)

Not bad for a 3 month period. But no decommissionings ? Or we just know less about it because people and the media pay less attention to it.

Only a few dozen Type 037 now left in service. Does anyone know how many Type 037's they decommission for every Type 056 they commission ?
