There will definitely be an EM catapult equipped carrier in the foreseeable future if things hold a stable course.

But whether the first 002/CV-18 will use EM catapults or steam catapults is not yet known, it may use steam first, but no one really is sure yet.
I agree.

Whether or not this first CV-002 will have EM cats is questionable though given when they say it started its build.

And, with the layout they are showing, which shows one launch point and cat forward and one waist point, it doesn't have to be either.

As Popeye said, they are using a deck layout that is much mre akin to the Charles de Gaulle, i that is what they actually intend. And the CDG layout is based on the successfull Clemenceau class design in terms of deck layout.

So it is a successful design which I expect the PLAN to improve upon for their needs, and particularly to accommodate the J-15.

I would hazard to add that the study image that was posted by popeye may not necessarily indicate what the real 002 will look like. It appears to be from a study quite a few years ago, and while that configuration was probably considered we do not know what they set on in the end.

There have been recent rumours by one of the big shrimps who suggests that they have chosen a three catapult configuration.
