I don't agree that the front of the LA has less room than behind the 093B's sail. Remember that you can only count the non-sloping portion of the hump, because if that hump is a VLS that means the VLS needs the entire height of the hump to contain it (otherwise there wouldn't need to be a hump in the first place).

Second, if there is in fact a VLS in that location, you should be able to see the door outlines, which are fairly visible:

Third, I would like to see evidence that the 093 is larger than the LA class. Please provide an authoritative source for that. And the 093B being "longer" than the original 093 has no bearing on this discussion. The length of the hump is what matters here, not the overall length of the sub itself.

Ok, that is a valid point. I enhanced the new photos. Couldn't find any hatches. So what is that hump?

The thing is both Russia and the US are under the SALT treaty which forbids them to develop or deploy any medium range ICBMs while the PRC is under no such obligations to do so. They can simply just use modified DF-21D and DF-26 in their submarine silos or any of their surface combatants' VLS !

At the risk of sounding like cherry picking here, it is really difficult confirm a door outline in that picture of the Type 93, not at that angle and that length. The Los Angeles's VLS are only visible because the photographer is standing literally right next to it.

Other than that, I am much in agreement that the Type 93 is not carrying any VLS. At least not the one portrayed in the photo.

The other thing is, its a government supplied picture. A lot of things could have been done on it before it would be "approved" for public consumption. To catch the 093B on an "honest" state, best to rely on a fan paparrazi pic or a satellite image.

When the enemy’s of China see this their knees will shake and hearts will tremble

I seriously wonder why China went all out here

I love those single miscellaneous ships at the end

Tanker, hospital ship, training ship, submarine rescue, spy ship, ocean tug, survey and weapons test ship that’s 8 in all

To be more precise: "When the enemies of China (US, japan, india, Vietnam) see this their knees will shake and hearts will tremble

I don't think the US is quite quaking in their boots just yet.

oh you just wait, you will VERY SOON.

Oh BTW, you know Donald Trump said a famous quote: "I only talk about CHINA, they will destroy this country (US), and they will do it with a SMILE. "

You go figure what he mean.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Under water fleet, the USN could deploy 3x Seawolf class SSN, 15x Virginia class SSN which are at least a generation ahead of anything the PLAN has (At least until 095 comes in). Not to mention 20+ improved LA class subs.

095 is superior to the Virginia and improved LA

It will be interesting to see what other ship will come online in the next few years. Xi did say that "never has there been a more critical time to build a world class navy than the present". US has a stronger sub surface fleet but USN's surface fleet advantage has already lost its absolute superiority. In my view, the US Navy really burdened down themselves with projects like LCS, Zumwalt and F-35s, I've always felt that China always made the more "realistic" choice in its build up of 056, 054A, 052D and 055, not always bleeding edge but just works with many commonality among the platforms to cut costs. In the end, it's all about money and controlling costs is the key to sustaining a mighty fleet (whether to build, refit/retrofit, repair). The out of control costs facing the US military is insane and unacceptable to American taxpayers.
