While the idea is interesting, I am skeptical that these guys have much expertise in the naval field. I think the concept model shows their lack of expertise: it resembles a fanboi's wet dream.

Four non-stealth-optimized CIWS units on a small stealthy boat like this? And what's up with the tandem arrangement of the front two CIWS units? And check out what I can only assume to be torpedo launchers integrated into the hull sides. Well, that sure has survivability written all over it: if one (semi-exposed) torpedo is hit while still in the launcher, the whole boat is guaranteed to go belly up.

Again, I'm not dismissing it entirely, and if China were to pursue such a vessel, I'm sure these guys would not be in charge of it.

You can even see that one of those torpedoes is an oversized Super-Duper torpedo. That's the secret sauce right there, folks.

In fairness, Chinese model makers are notoriously sloppy, so I wouldn't read too much into the CIWS choice.

And the torpedo tubes could very well be underwater glider tubes instead.

That being said...

WTF is going on with the helicopter pad? Who in their right mind would stick even a VTOL UAV on an unmanned ship?!

There are four CIWS on this little ship. If the PLAN refuses to put even a single 730 on a ship the size of the 071 or the 901, why would it stick four of them on a ship this size, with three of the four having the worst firing arcs imaginable? This ship design is all kinds of fail right from the beginning, and if it is actually a serious offering from CASC, somebody in that company should be fired.

Precisely. Even if those launchers can be used to deploy UUVs, why leave them semi exposed like that? Why go through the trouble of building a stealthy trimaran hull, only to have the stealth compromised by those launchers and four non-stealth-optimized CIWS units?

Given how cheaply built the model is, I'm assuming that if built, the D3000 would have some sort of autocannons (a 30mm turret?) in place of those Type 730s (even putting one Type 730 on could seriously unbalance the D3000)

By78,

I don't suppose you have any images of those digital displays behind the D3000 and other USV models?

The D3000 is clearly so badly built that it almost certainly bears only the most fleeting resemblance to the actual concept (I mean, look at those missile canisters!). If there was an Oscars for bad military model making, this would sweep not just this year, but retroactively sweep the three previous years as well.

Believe it or not, I actually like it... of course not in this iteration since it would be too heavy and impractical.. however the design concept has potential.

Halved the weapons on board I.e 1 CIWS on front and back, and dual pack ASM instead of quad. Heli pad would be for drone helo, not actual helo since it's not big nor stable enough.

The torpedoes of course are just silly not to mention not scaled properly unless china has developed some giant torpedoes im unaware off. The space would be much better utilized for fuel cells or other equipment stowage.

Not to mention those CIWS units are purely for self-defense, which means the designers think this small trimaran is so valuable that an enemy would invest perhaps half a dozen or more antiship missiles to kill this boat that's scarcely bigger than a Type 22.

Yeah, put 4 CIWS in a very small boat doesn't make sense.

But for Torpedo launcher, maybe they can easily put a canopy to cover it. But if the enemy can hit the boat, it also will blown up.

It's only small boat, if this design is a Frigate size then I am agree with you. But this is only a small boat, very small.

What you expect, an ammo bustle to cover the torpedo with 10 metre thick wall?

And I think, from beggining the designer already said it's only a concept design, the real design will be based upon customer request.
And if you look more closely, the 3D model is different from the design they build in an LCD display behind it.

The main point is they want to tell that They can produce a Control Naval System and have Technology for an Unmanned boat.

That's the Point they want to tell/sell.

Yes, I noticed that the depiction is different from the model, which only tells me to further avoid these guys like the plague, who are coming off here as more of a slapped-together high school show & tell rather than a polished corporation that has their act together.
