The part under wrap, ould this be part of the island for 001A?
No, that is a 022. It was rumored that Shichang was moving this missile boat to Fiery Cross reef. I didn't know they have big cranes there to unload this thing though.

While not the norm, I don't see why an 022 can't make it on its own power to Fiery Cross with prudent planning to account for any bad weather. We've see 022s at Woody before. As you say, doubt there are cranes at Fiery to offload something the size of an 022. Would also make more sense to transport via a semi-submersible such as the Guang Hua Kou, simply pick up and drop off. Could it be 022s are now available for export?

I don't think so, wait until it is complete.

All four engine rooms still uncovered.

Agreed, we have to wait until the hull is complete before we can judge.

Also, insider information suggests that the hull below the waterline has been modified for improved hydrodynamics and speed. This very possibly means that the hull length has actually been increased for a better fineness ratio, or an improved bow shape more modern than the typical bulbous bow. Or perhaps even (in my dreams) an auxiliary rudder for better a better turning radius.

As we don't have any visual evidence to suggest what the ship looks like below the waterline, neither photographs nor satellite imagery, there is no way of knowing if 001A's dimensions are greater or smaller than Liaoning's, or if they remained unchanged. However, my guess would be a slightly lengthened hull, at least below the waterline.
