Don't know whether Chinese discover this "flaw"?

" The carrier’s electromagnetic launch system, made by General Atomics, puts more stress on the tanks than older steam-powered catapults, and that would cause premature damage to the planes, according to the test office and Navy documents."

"The Navy says it will install corrective software on the launch system intended to reduce acceleration forces and will test it on board the Ford after delivery next March. The software change is intended to adjust the power exerted during launches to reduce stress on the wing tanks."

As I stated on the other thread...

From the article about the issue:

"The Navy understands the issue, views it as low technical risk, and has a funded plan in place to fix it. The resolution of this issue is straight-forward because the Navy will leverage this inherent capability of the system to tune the catapult forces for these wing tank configurations. There is no impact to ongoing shipboard installation or shipboard testing and this will not delay any CVN 78 milestones."

This says it all. It is not a big problem since the corrective actions is already known and can be addressed by a software fix.

But this is exactly why you do ALL OF THOSE TESTS.

The US Navy knows what it is about in these things, and they are showing that something that media and detractors may LEAP AT, is a straight forward, non-critical issue.

Just the same, without all of those tests...exercising all of the various configurations and options, this would not have been found and could have ended up resulting in the loss of aircraft and personnel.

As I have said before, any nation wanting to bring forward critical new technology like this...is going to have to test it extensively in real world conditions. (and that would include any new catapult system)

Liaoning ship commissioned by the Navy really made people excited about a handful of recent success of the F-15 landing in Liaoning ship once again let the Chinese people are very proud that the majority of users of the attention has been firmly locked into 16 ship. Excitement Some might think, Liaoning ship also very powerful thing, coupled with heavy-duty F-15 carrier-based aircraft, not bad. Altogether, first made a few Liaoning ship with the same type of ship, to save around camouflage powers, prompting us no peace. In fact, my friends need not worry. China's aircraft carrier ambitions who is ambitious, Liaoning ship is a prelude to our great shipbuilding program only, the real main carrier will be followed in the next twenty years.

Internal message I received, in 2011, China has in Changxing Jiangnan Shipyard began construction of 002 (according to the Liaoning ship called 001 aircraft speculated that the type should be called the 002 type) aircraft carriers. 002 type aircraft load displacement of 78,000 tons, the use of conventional power, all-pass deck, equipped with three electromagnetic catapults, will build two. The first ship, the 17-ship (according to the ship's hull number Liaoning down the row), will be launched at the end of 2013, in 2014 began outfitting, began sea trials in 2015, 2016 or 2017, commissioned by the Navy. 18 will ship 17 after freeing the ship dock into the water to start building that began construction in 2014, launched by the end of 2016, in 2017 began outfitting, began sea trials in 2018, 2019 or 2020 commissioned by the Navy. Then China will enter the great 2020s.

An aircraft carrier would have a flat deck of equal heights except the ramp. And the ski ramp is expected to be 12 to 14 degree. This hull does not fit in this spec.

This hull can be any type of ship, my guess is one of the "yuan wang" (Look Far) space tracking ships.

Well, this article says:

Article said:

Based on this, I believe the blogger is not very credible.

If the shipyard began actual construction of the vessel in 2013 on a 78,000 ton carrier, we would see something fairly substantial now...yet we do not.

And the idea that they are going to have three EMALS type catapults on their first conventional carrier which started construction in 2013 is also not real credible to me either.
