Q-5 retirement
A pic appear some days ago but not sufficient for me
But now here ( i can' t provide translation ) confirmed the 7 Q-5 Rgts/Brigades with about 200 get retired soon main reason expensive to maintain and replaced by J-16 but not one by one coz more expensive definitely same things for J-20.

I add one J-16 unit, Brigade or Rgt will have about 20 J-16 + 4 J-16D same number than J-11 units.
Even without one to one replacement the capacities of that regiments will experiment a couple of generations leap forward. Technologically and aerodinamically speaking, jumping from a Mig-19 derivative to a Su-30 one is an enormous improvement.
Yes ofc still Q-5 are not completely outdated modernised armed with LGBs but mainly not good as a J-16 far ! for A2A combat which will undoubtedly be a secondary mission for J-16 than Su-30/MKK 2.
But despite technology the mass/number remains important. And it is the reason why Chinese have keep Q-5 and again after J-7s u can' t do all even with the more sophisticated aircraft some number is necessary for a Air force be effective.
