These actions seem really counter-productive if we want to eventually win over Taiwanese people peacefully. There must be no war between PRC and ROC. Did the Taiwanese president announce anything threatening the status quo recently to deserve a military show of force? This is not unlike USN sailing around SCS. Pointlessly annoying people to deliver some statement everyone who matters already know well enough.

Making a mountain out of a molehill from routine patrols. Even if there is a row between Taipei and Beijing, patrolling the border goes higher than that row, since it’s not just about China but in an international context as well.

Besides, in the ongoing argument, the PLA is a neutral force. It is not supposed to be used in domestic matters, except in times of emergency (like in the Sichuan earthquake). If PAP (internal security) had been patrolling, that might be interpreted as violating a tacit ceasefire, but it wasn’t PAP.

    Of course.

The image itself is merely a stand in.

The JH-XX model? Or could be a stealth tanker concept like the KC-X.
