下士5750元
中士7820元
上士10120元
四级军士长12420

The lowest four are NCOs from OR-3 to OR-6.

排职10360元
副连11270元
正连12190元
副营13340元
正营17020元
副团20700元
正团26070元
副师29440元
正师34270元

The rest are commissioned from platoon-level to division-level. It is a bit strange that the officers are listed by their position instead of ranks.

取消大校,将军与英美相同。准将一星,少将二星,中将三星,上将四星。需要人大批准。中国军队军装和军衔都与英美接轨了,彻底与苏联制式再见了。

This is talking about PLA is going to abolish the current colonel commandant rank and replace it with bridge general.

According to Google, the same rumor has been circulating since 2016. I highly doubt how reliable both are.

About replacing "Senior Colonel" with "Brigadier (General)". It seems to me to be more of a fetish of everything US, ignoring the Chinese reality.

Here is an article by a PLA history researcher, published on PLA official web site this year 2018. If this does not represent the PLA's thinking, who does?
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

The key points are:
  • Brigadier and Senior Colonel are essentially the same rank by different names in Chinese terminology. They are meant for Division and Brigadier (deputy Division) commanders. There is no materialistic reasons of one or another.
  • The primary reason of China choosing Senior Colonel is to "prevent the huge number of generals". The determining fact is that unlike western countries, China has a very large number of Divisional commanders 5 digits against 400 brigadiers in US. It is absolutely ridiculous to have tens of thousands of generals running around.
  • The idea of brigadier has been suggested and killed twice 1955 and 1988 for the very same reason which last till today and very likely to the foreseeable future.
This fact was in 1955 and 1988, and remains today. Unless this changes (number of divisional officers significantly reduced), there is no way that China is going for brigadier rank. Even if this happened as to dismantle all divisions, the number of replacing brigades will be two to three times of the divisions, the number of potential brigadiers will double or triple as long as the size of PLA remains which certainly will.

The key is that China does not want bloated rank for personal ego, bragging and demanding of privilege. End of story.

In a sense, the "proposing of brigadier" on the internet is similar to "forcing FC-31 down the throat of PLA", it is individuals (including some PLA officers) trying to make the impression of popularity of the idea to force CMC to do the right thing.

Is that a J-10s? I've never seen that camo scheme before

Yes, I think that is a dual seater J-10S. But that seems to be a scaled model of both the painting machine and the J-10S for illustration purposes. The real sized machine should be the one that uses metal arms on the first picture.

Is it after tax pay ? ... do they still get other perks? i.e meals, accommodations, clothes, shoes, etc?
Very small tax rate (most retired officers pay no taxes, pensions not only for life, but also will be adjusted if current officers got pay raises, however, their grade and rank will not go up), Private to non-commissioned officers free meals, accommodations, some free housing, clothes, shoes; officers no free meals but with discounted prices, accommodations, free or very small monthly rent housing for most married officers (division commander level-starts from 160 square meters apartment), clothes, shoes.

If that the case, not bad at all then ... perhaps better than in most countries

Other perks include free medical care for family at military hospitals and heavily discounted for school. Also get extra points for gaokao for military families back in the day.

How do you "know" all these? I have many relatives in PLA (one is up to the rank of major general). I know for certain that there are no such things. Commissioned officers and their family members pay the bill as civilians. Civilians can and very often go to the military hospitals without restrictions.
PLA officers did in the past get free medical care and housing before JUST like other state employees, but that was decade ago before the reform to mandated commercial insurance.

Are you sure about the tax being smaller than civilian? And retired officers paying no taxes at all? Is it today?
Pension adjustment is NOT unique to PLA retirees. Civilian retirees of public employments got it too, such as state university proffessors.
