Is the QBU 88 a single stack magazine?
double or single I bet single. The QBU88 has a 5.56x45mm counter part originally called the KBU97A renamed NQU03 ( last I heard.) now where the Type 97 takes a Double feed M16 pattern magazine, the KBU/NQU requires a special magazine modified from the QBU88's. Which tells me It's probably a single stack.
Increasing the length of a magazine starts causing issues when going prone.

If the mag was double stacked, it might just be OK. But seeing that it is a single stack, increasing magazine size would almost definitely get in the way in a prone position.

If it was a double feed magzine they should have made if compatable with the QBZ95 magazine, so that if they needed the extra capacity just borrow a mag from another squad member and clock in.
Yea I was thinking about that earlier when I first asked my question. Hopefully the PLA will move to more standardised equipment like some NATO armaments. :)

the ACOG idea is good. The 88 really works better as DMR than a sniper rifle.
But I wish it had a 20 rounds magazine.

Why stop at 20?

that would be over kill. Drums are for suppressive so that would demand selective fire. Besides that they tend to be more trouble then they are worth.

The centre of mass of the weapon would be completely off and poor handling as a marksman's weapon, but that sure would be fun :D:D:D Which weapon would that drum usually fit? there may be some compatibility if that is the QBB 95-1 drum o_O

I am still in the Questioning phase here as looking at the magazines
QBZ95 03 magazine.jpg
QBZ95 30 round

QBU 88 we are looking at very different Magazine profiles. The QBZ 95 magazine is patterned after the classic AK magazine a double stack single feed with a banana curve. you look at the QBU88 and its a straight walled magazine very much like a AR15, what they have in common is the latch and caliber.

But they're great for killing brain eating zombies.:D:p By than your rifle barrel will become red hot and one can't use it for awhile.

pop culture aside Drums tend to be heavier then needed and have a habit of jamming. then there is the whole mess of loading and unloading and cleaning and drying.
