Another look at the incomplete set of the kit...

QTS-11 w/o the scope, but we see the helmet mounted sight(display) module, PDA(?), comm terminal (?) big battery....unknown component in the plastic bag and an unknown electronic unit next to it.

Of course this need a proper tactical vest to mount them all, not that kind of silly looking webbing typically seen with Chinese troops these days.

Certainly, forget about plug-n-play (if you're a FPS gamer you should know what I mean), this has to be fully mounted at base before deployment.

You are making the assumption that all the extra gear is for the smart rifle, which doesn't really make sense in the context of what the smart rifle does and how it's contemporaries function.

These are supposed to be self-sustained and sufficient pieces of field tech, and needing all that back-end stuff plugged in just won't fly, and won't pass the PLA's notorious verification trials.

What is far more likely is that the other pieces are separate elements of the digital soldier concept the PLA has been toying around with, which are now integrated with my he smart rifle system.

I am siding a bit with wolf on this. Although I suspect they are intended to be used in conjunction with the QST-11. I mean the pack we say could not hold that vest and some of this gear is more general purpose.
I think if we look at another Digital soldier system we can create an educated guess as to each part.

I am using Land warrior as the basis of comparison as It happens to have a lot of info graphics.

Isn't that the Land Warrior project that got canned back in 2007? Subsequent reboot of the project now called Nett Warrior (you just need a typo with the "Nett" and you can bet the Cult of Kek are going to laugh themselves to half-dead) which shrink the bulk down by a lot, to primary a smartphone-sized terminal module and a radio to tie-in, which the terminal used that to connect to the Troop Net. But fair to say, by now the Nett Warrior no longer do weapon sight tie-in, in essence scaled by a lot.

As much as I'd lean to agree with your assessment on this, now I wonder when that was taken, and was that kit aimed to achieve what the Land Warrior set out (and failed) to do, not necessary all of it? Y'know, by now you can cramp in a lot of processing power onto a smartphone, problems would mostly battery power and necessary "hardening" (enviornment proof and stuff, reasons why we buy Otterbox or Lifeproof case) at hardware level...

Think that's the earlier iteration, anyone?

It's a 2008 infographic, as such calling it land warrior is appropriate as that was the land warrior model before the program was officially cancelled. Than redeveloped into Nett Warrior based off mobile smart devices.
I didn't do that for insult but because I figured that the PLA system was a straight evolution from inception to the model we see.
Where as Nett Warrior suddenly and totally diverged into a whole new direction. A smart phone based evolution eliminated a number of parts from Land warrior as they consolidate into Nett Warrior.
Nett Warrior is also heavily Bluetooth based well the PLA unit has wires and modules.

little bit of a write up of the ballistics of 5.8x21mm used by the PLA in it's new generation of sidearms and PDWs Compared to 9x19mm Nato ( baseline, note not one of they hyper hot Russian wildcat loads) and competitors in the form of 4.6x30mm used in HK MP7A1 and 5.7x28mm used in FN P90 and FN FiveseveN series pistols.
The ballistic tables were generated using the Qcw05 PDW and P90 as well as likely the Mp7A1 as these are Carbine configurations ( IE Stocked ) they ranged out to 300m The maximum possible combat use for such a weapon.

In summary the velocity curve is constantly identical to 9mm although almost 100f/s faster. when compared to MP7 and P90 however it has a more shallow curve with the P90 and Mp7 rounds having a faster muzzle velocity until around 250 M when there curves more or less overlap. In energy It's more or less a match to it's competition all having less energy than a 9mm round.
In drop it falls much faster than P90 and Mp7 but not as much as 9mm.

The results are that the 5.8mm PDW has a lower velocity at the muzzle but keeps it's energy more consistently. Now the Chinese Claim that they can penetrate a Nato Spec Ballistic combat helmet out to 100m Which is fine most combat helmets are lightweight armor. P90 is rated to penetrate a CRISAT vest at 200m which is thicker and center of mass.

The Chinese military will be re-arming their service rifles with a new unannounced modular rifle. We have been told that the factory (among others) will only producing rifles for the re-armament for next 2-3 years, then you can imagine the backlog of orders to fulfill after that. This means that this could be the only T81 production run in the next 3+ years, likely even longer.

Wording maybe confusing me. What new rifle? Replacing Type 95? Making this new rifle will halt T 81 production?

The forum post is a gun importer from canada talking about importing Type 81 rifles, and writing about the state of their supplier, who is producing other rifles apart from Type 81, one of those rifles being the new modular assault rifle that we've had inklings of over the last year or so
