And come to think of it, the 50m contract doesn't make sense with the numbers...now, Tactical Imports tagged $999 per Type 81 on their website, assuming that's the per-unit cost (which in reality would be less of course but that's not the point here), whether the price tag in USD or CAD, 30,000 guns still won't add up to $50m, what's the deal with that extra $20m?

Did something missed?
magazines, ammo, spare parts, Training manuals, BUIS. Cleaning kits.

Unless otherwise debunked with further fact check, looks like we finally know the Chinese OICW official designation: QTS-11

Yes we all seen this pic before, but not what's on the storage case cover:

So if we go by this, this iteration (definitive? or later Mark now available but undisclosed as yet?) was made in 2011, the full kit (don't know that missing component, too low-res to read the label, sorry guys) is at 18KG. Sure the kitted out gun with ammo loaded shouldn't weight that much, but like always details are lacking.

39 to 40 pounds package is easy.
Full rifle with integrated grenade launcher between 11 and 13 pounds ( 11 always sounded to light ), 2 electronic optics between 2.6 and 3 pounds each, 4 loaded magazines about a pound each. based on the Shape And mission needs I think that the missing round object should be something like this
FG-750_Multi_Large-Multi.jpg
A Rifle Cleaning kit is a standard part of any issue kit for any weapon and the QTS 11 would need a full kit to take care of both parts. so assume another pound. figure there is a rifle sling for another half pound.
I figure the two black boxes with silvery grey dots are Lithium Ion batteries at a pound a I am guessing the Green object is a tool of some kind maybe a hammer about 8 oz. looks like a Manual and logbook that we will say is about 5 ounces
Right now my estimate is about 26 pounds or almost 12 Kg.
Now a Pelican case ( the closest Commercial Case I can think of to style and material construction ) in the closest size I could fine to the dimensions on the label 122x43x17cm is the model 1720 Long Case (with Foam) 112.7 x 40.6 x 15.5 cm at 18.9 pounds so round a 19 pounds. and that is around 45 pounds or 20kg. So assume a lighter grade of rifle case.

Nice catch with the battery as they are indeed batteries. The green thing is some kind of oil for maintenance I think. The round object missing is a scope carrier (at least that's what the blurred label looks like).

Yep, the case handily literally labels the various parts, and the two black rectangular thingies with two silver circles are labelled "fire control battery" or "huokong dianchi"

Daymn dat's some slick cleaning kit...still remember that Vietnam War era M16 cleaning kit back in my days doing NS in S'pore...

Those 2 are indeed battery for the FCS(scope, both daylight version and low-light version are shown in the case), the green thingy is labelled as the oil bottle (think that means gun oil in this context).

Green bottle of oil makes sense.
but Scope carrier does not to me as we can see the scopes for the rifle and they are larger than the hole. You already have two optics there. and they are pretty big.
Besides you never ever would ship a rifle without a cleaning kit for it especially a specialized one. The user of this weapon can't just use the standard issue kit as well it may clean the 5.8 but you also have to clean the grenade launcher. And the kit I found would fit perfectly in that hole with all the goodies you would need for cleaning both the carbine and launcher.

Your point makes more sense though the label is confusing.
I've receive shipment where they fold a long bag like a hose tube so maybe this is a omni carrier that contain the cleaning kit and a bag or maybe detachable pocket that can unfolded to put your second scope in it (with another scope attached to rifle).
The other possibility is that cleaning kit is in the top of case behind the manual like in many cell phone and laptop package they put charger behind handbook.

The writing is too blurred for me to make them out, but if it does say scope carrier, that would make sense.

The rifle has a day and separate night scope, meaning a solider would need to carry the other scope with him on deployment.

The cut out being smaller than then scopes would not automatically rule out a carrier if it's not a hard case one. It could easily be a soft shell padded case that provides adequate protection against knocks and drops while not giving you a bruise every time it slaps against you.

In which case, the cut out represents the case collapsed and packed.
