PLA recruit video use F16 pic?

Point of the thread a Official PLA video used footage of a non PLA aircraft from a outside source. IE context.
Given the habit of Chinese weapon makers and the PLA of using stock footage from western movies like Top Gun for their promotional videos by saying I wouldn't be surprised to see a DF21D video using cuts from Transformers 2. Another member agreed with me. Another brought up the Taiwanese transformer video trying to draw a link. I pointed out that at least they were original about it. Even if it didn't succeed.

Yes but you are making a big deal out nothing. So what if the PLA uses "stock footage from western movies" for their videos. People make it seem like these PLA are the same low tech non creative robots who can't seem to think on their own all because they are communism. If a simple video is making one to lose sleep over, than I hope the PLA continue to post these videos just to rile up some sleepless China hating trolls for our entertainment.

It could well be just a slip-up by the video maker who might not even have recognized the CG aircraft as an F-16 from that bottom view. That is just a split second (you literally have to pause the video to tell it apart), out of the rest of the video that shows only Chinese weapons including the J-10. Talking about making a big fuss out of almost nothing.

@Equation , the earlier story this was the Top gun missile video,
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

This was a Humorus Flop as The Source Material was an American Propaganda Movie, And I mean Propaganda. The USN and Grumman were directly involved in Production and the Plane killed was representing a fictional adversary based more in role to the Chinese.
the Missile shot shot in question was a Live Fire missile Done by the USN specifically for the film. However it could o some degree be forgiven the onus falls on CCTV's production not the PLA.

This second video is an Official PLA recruitment tool. As such it's Production had direct access to the PLAAF footage archives and the PLAAF themselves with the possibility of filming aboard training flights. Which is humorous as Their is no reason for it to even be necessary. If they wanted a missile shot they should have had access to live fire missile tests footage. So Use of a CGI indicates a sloppy production.

Now are their other cases of this across the world? Yes. and they are funny uhoh too. but it's light hearted and adds a little flavor to the Forum. As This is Direct PLA material it falls into the category of pertinent to the Forum for discussion in my book, and as such I place this in the Epic Fail mode.

Now If you want to see me Riled up In response to this thread well, Equation well the video did not do that. but your post 10 did.

So do the youth in the PRC has an obligation to join the military or not. The youth in Taiwan knows full well they could never survive a fight against a strong opponent like China, Japan, or Russia with the lack of high tech weapons their armed forces poses.
I never heard youth in PRC has obligation to join military. Consider if all of them join military, PLA would have big headache. :):)

You mean like Chinese medicine, paper, gunpowder and a thousand other inventions? You act like Japan doesn't do the same. Hypocrisy much?

Bro, that's not really an argument than a diversion.

This type of argument just as bad as the typical "Your Russian carrier suck and we've done it since WWII.", "Nothing to worry about, it's made it China guys" or "Canards? It got no stealth." type.

He did make a point, they did use unlicensed footage and that's worse than original content no matter how you put it.
And the stuff you listed are invented hundreds of years ago, and there was no copyright laws at the time, even it there is, it wouldn't last over 100 years.

It is easier to admit PLA's PR did something unprofessional and wrong than defending them.

Also: Believe it or not, the "otaku" culture that most young Japanese male liked is so infused with the anime stuff, that this type of recruiting ad. would probably yield a better effect than showing off fancy equipment or using patriotic slogans.

Jeez, I can't believe this thread is already three pages long.

Frankly I think both sides are being a bit immature, or at least not being very diplomatic if they were interested in snapping at each other.

On the one hand, it's pretty much rule number 5 of PLA watching that the PLA are terrible at marketing and PR. Using unlicensed footage either accidentally or even deliberately really ain't nothing new and there's nothing wrong with acknowledging it out and no need to be too defensive.

But OTOH it should also have been obvious that focusing on this half a second of video with a semi-mocking intent was always going to elicit some degree of defensiveness.
