so i was just browsing youtube, and saw the new PLA video, some comment indicate at 2:58-2:59, they use F16, i pause it and it looks indeed F16(not J10A/B). I would though the PLA will at least do a decent job not putting foreign weapon inside a recruit video. is this pretty common? i mean they dont even bother to worry about the details?

The Chinese military is generally terrible at PR -- I'm not too surprised.

The Shinkansen 300 series were never exported to PRC nor have they ever ran in mainland China.
The visual was made as a newspaper advert by the Communist party.:D

Remember they used to use that Top-Gun movies footage. The F-5 blow-up.

Yeah, it's just laziness.

I remember when that top gun clip was used in the CCTV report about fighter development (may have been J-10), some people were saying that was because the air force didn't actually have operational missiles... when in reality it's probably because CCTV couldn't get access to actual footage (out of laziness or lack of cash) or the air force wouldn't let them.

TV segments about PLA developments also sometimes even use online CGIs by fan artists as stand in depictions for the subjects they're talking about.

Seriously, the entire marketing and PR infrastructure related to PLA could do with an overhaul, but then again I doubt the PLA cares too much about that in the first place.

I keep waiting for the day they use footage from Transformers 2 for ASBMs.

I've seen a few articles about AShBM in Chinese and Korean using stills from that scene in Transformers 2. I couldn't even blame them that much -- I remember watching that movie when it came out, and when the decepticons meteored their way to the usn supercarriers I was thinking that this looked kind of like the terminal phase of AShBMs...

Surprised their escorts didn't use SM-3.
