China's first peacekeeping unit to South Sudan held their oath-taking ceremony in Jinan Military Region.

The peacekeeping battalion has around 700 members with added focus on specialised personnel such as communications and medical personnel. The battalion consists of 3 infantry companies and 1 reserve company.

Vehicles include "Fierce Warrior" HMMWVs, MRAPs and Type 92s. Especially noteworthy are the equipment of individual soldiers, which include QBZ-95-1s, flashlights, goggles, body armour (chest, groin and neck), elbow and knee pads, radio on left shoulders, multiple pouches and accessories with identical camouflage, and various tags/emblems/insignias.

Just to add, the body armour also includes shoulder pad.

I wasn't sure what to call those 'armoured cars'. The Chinese term is "装甲运兵车", which means armoured personnel carrier but I took one look and decided they were anything but APCs so I downgraded them to MRAPs. But now, it seems they're not even well-armoured enough to be called MRAPs.

True MRAPs have much higher ground clearance and an armored acutely V-shaped bottom, both to protect against mines, these armored cars don't have those characteristics so the generic term armored car is probably accurate.

To me they have enough resemblance to a Chinese HMMWV clone, so I call them armored HMMWVs.

Not doubting the translation, just referencing it and looking at the pictures I see everything but true MRAPs. There are what looks to be armored HMMWVs in addition to the regular ones. Interesting to see these rather than the other 4x4 armored cars (ZFB05?) previously deployed with PLA UN troops. Also interesting to see that they are not skimping on body armor in such "sitting duck" type UN missions.

This battalion is transfered from 54GA and 26GA:the are PLA, not the CAP.PLA are not equiped with MRAPs formally. In addition ,ZFB 05 is a object of a company——and the ARMY do not satisfied with it(i‘m not either). The vehicle you call ‘armored HMMWVs”’called CJT01 produced by Dongfeng company——it is not an ’armored HMMWVs‘ in deed,it‘s real panzer.

The are APC .
CJT01 ,what you call 'armoured cars',is not ‘armoured’ car, but a new panzer for motorized infantry.

here is a paper about the CJT01:someone called ‘MRAP’、‘armored’car、‘ ‘armored HMMWVs’.
seems the protection is equal to (at least, not worse than)M113.
